Dont worry after this week and next week they will stay on there own forums and be happy with there 8-2 season.

I have a feeling that after this week and next week West will be needing a win vs the Burg to get in the playoffs.

Just my opinion.

I'm not sure what game you watched West play (if any). But the JV has got at least one quarter of play and most games two quarters of play time.

Tremonti1,
Who picked Waverly to beat Minford? From what I saw Minford was picked to win by most.

Look, we were picked to lose against waverly last week. we proved them wrong. All i'm saying is let people pick you as an underdog and come out as the winner. I'm from Minford and i'm not picking on you to win or lose. IMO Burg, West, and Minford are sitting pretty even as of right now. We'll find out Friday who the contenders are. 2 teams in the soc could come out 7-0 after friday night. I know at least one team out of the Burg/Minford game will be determined. Good Luck to you guys on Friday as I hope it is 7-0 Minford and West going at it for the soc :122249

I believe Waverly was the underdog in that game and they would have had to play mistake-free football to beat Minford last week. As it turns out Waverly did not play very well and Minford excelled on both sides of the ball... Congrats.

The Tigers will be ready to play Friday.

Yes, you were picked to lose by some, as Waverly was picked to lose by some, but you weren't the underdog. The majority of people who voted last week picked Minford to win, thus, making Waverly the underdog. The vote was 42-31 in favor of Minford.

7th 4-2 one loss to a combine 7th and 8th grade
8th 6-0
9th 3-0
JV 4-0
Varsity 6-0

Nope, not on the west coast, just going on what I have seen and broke down.

No way does west come back down route 23 undefeated. Waverly and Roback win by multiple scores.

That's what i was trying to say. HEHE. Thanks trooper 8) I was only stating that certain/some people wanted us to lose to waverly. I did not however mean to imply that we were the underdogs and i wasn't going by the seops minford/waverly poll either. Sorry for the confusion. :aaaaa12

If West brings the intensity that they are capabale of bringing, this will not be a contest. One area that needs to step it up is the O line. I am not dogging them they play "good" together. They have the capability to be great. I have the feeling that West can go 10-0. When the O Line comes together and gets a little more push there will be no one that can stop West. I enjoy watching them fly to the ball on defense, and it is no mystery to anyone in the area that the backfield they have is unreal. Offensive Line play improves = easy run till around the 2nd round of the palyoffs, then it will get interesting.

sounds like an SEC fan talking about the Big Ten.
I understand your logic, as Waverly with Roback and Malone are very athletic. But have you seen West play? We have some very good athletes. Several of them. And most of them are 200 plus pounds.

The questions for this game are: Can West stop the spread and can Waverly stop a power running team? West has saw the spread and has faired well. I've watched Waverly versus two running teams in Jackson and Minford. Neither have they faired well.

IMO Waverly's only shot to stop West is to load the box, blitz the backers, hope they guess right, pray for alot of yellow laundry, and hope West turns the ball over. If these things don't happen, West is gonna move the ball well. I expect some long runs by West, as Waverly will be aggressive and guessing.

On the other hand, West will have a hard time stopping Waverly. D1 QB to go with speed and skill. The West D ends need to have Roback on the run all night and I would say Compton will be blitzing about every play like in the Portsmouth game. West can afford to do this because Pendelton in the middle is such a ball hawk.

Will be a great game.

this is true. The difference now is coaching and offseason conditioning/lifting. West always has good athletes, and we have always faired better until the things I've mentioned become a factor in high school. Just look at this group. Same kids as last year. Last year not in shape/weak they go 4-6. This year in shape/strong they are 6-0. I don't care who they've played or the opponents records, their is a night and day difference. Seeing the talent West has coming up, I would expect West to win a few Gold Footballs in the coming years.

I really think West is on a collision course this season. After watching a few games this is what I see.
First, The unselfish play by everyone. I have not heard one person complain about not getting touches. All I hear is we will do whatever it takes.

Special Teams: Kickoff coverage has been excellent. Not many starters on kickoff indicating how deep they are. The kids get down the field in a hurry with bad intentions. Just watch #68 this week. Kickoff return is excellent also. We have started with great field posistion everytime. They have some major home run hitters back deep also. The kicking game looks really good. We have a great punter in swords who has led the SOC in punting last 2 years. Both fieldgoal kickers are good. Auger has a real live leg and Morgan is extremely accurate. With perry and journey back deep returning punts, they have a great chance to go the distance everytime the touch it. I have noticed they both are really agressive too.

Offense: Offensive line seems to get better and better each week. The last few weeks the offensive line has played sparingly letting the young kids get reps. They come off the ball well and got some guards that really can pull and run. The receivers are talented. Perry and Journey are threats to score anywhere on the field and splitting Swords out there is just lethal. I haven't seen a kid in quite awhile that uses his body as well as he does when going up for the ball. And When Morgan is in they split bricker out and with his athleticism, speed, and size he is dangerous. The Quarterbacks have played really well. When Morgan is in expect to air it out. he has the biggest arm in southern ohio. The kid throws strikes. I don't think there is a receiver around that can ourtun is arm. i've seen him throw it 70 yds. And When bricker is in expect to run a little more option than they would with morgan. As bricker has a nice arm, and really runs well. They run the veer and option with him because of his speed. And the Backs. Or should I say the three-headed monstor. This is by far the 3 best backs west has had in the same backfield ever. All 3 have the ability to take it the distance. They all go over 200 lbs and run really hard. I would love to see the yards after contact. I haven't seen one man tackle any of them. Swords is a really hard runner who is more of a power back who throws a good stiffarm and has great speed. Murphy is more of a slasher type back. he has a variety of moves and has really good vision. And Pendelton is a mixture. he runs really hard and just drags tacklers. Meanwhile has great vision and speed and has really good feet. They all block well, but I would give the edge to pendleton as being the best blocker on the team. he really blows people up. I bet he avg. 10 pancakes a game. He hits the whole so hard and at 220lbs he just rolls them.

Defense: The Defense tackles Evans and groves have great motors and play wild every play. They are really quick and really get pressure and feel gaps. they are also tall kids 6'2 and 6'4 who get in the passing lanes. The Noseguard is Alley a strong quick kid who is really mean. He plays with a nasty streak. The Defensive ends are murphy and Webber. Murphy is really athletic and plays as the drop off end in pass coverage. He plays the position really well. And Webber has one of the best motors I've ever seen. Webber is a hard nosed kid that is always around the ball. And now the Linebackers, By far the most improved player lee Compton plays one inside backer. He is another kid who has a great motor. he is a real physical kid who has good size and really gets after people. They seem to send him alot on blitzes as he plays relentless. And then We have Pendleton. I think by far the best defensive player in the area and only a soph. I mean the kid seems to make every play. He is a smart football player who has great instincts. he is really physical as he just flat lays the wood and with his athleticsm, size, and speed, noone has much success running right at us. The Corners perrry and journey are experienced and really play smart. Even though they are a bit undersized the make it up with speed. I think with them west can play man against anyone and be successful. And the Safties Bricker and swords are really good. They both are physically imposing and really will hit you. They also are great in coverage.
