Wow Dennis I agree. Saw the game. Fouls were Marietta 18 - Warren -13. After half Marietta came out in a zone press and got up by about 6 or so and that seemed to be the difference. Can't blame officials. Marietta a better team.

Parkersburg News & Sentinel has Dawson at 6-18 from the field. She was also the leader in every other stat. 7 rebs, 4 assts. 5 steals. She is legit and a great kid. As far as an off night Warren shot a better FG %, out rebounded Marietta and only had 1 more turnover. If anything they both had off nights.

I was right about the lower FT%s this game, but wrong about lower FG%s! I thought there would be fewer fouls called and therefore worse FG%s. There were with 31 fouls called this game vs. 46 last game. Marietta was whistled for 18(6 in the first half)this game vs. 16(9 in the first half) last week, while Warren was called for 13(4 in the first half) this game vs. 30(12 in the first half) last week. This game Warren had been called for only 8 fouls for the game until Weppler hit the trey to put Marietta up 3 with 1:46 left in the game, after which Warren fouled a lot trying to get back into the game.

The 6/8 shooting of Weppler and Farrar was key, as was the 7 vs 1 treys. Without the shooting of those two, the Marietta FG% would have been about the same last week.

With 49 combined turnovers in the game, Coach Colgrove was right about not valuing each possession. Marietta had 10 more turnovers than last week. When you add those in, Marietta had about the same points per possession that didn't end in FTs in both games, in spite of the better FG% this week.

IMO Dawson did force a few shots in this game, but when you could create your own shot pretty much every trip, what is the line between being a "ball hog" and just creating a shot? There are teams when some players forced or created shot is better than some others shots. IMO. Erica also leads this team in assists. The Brown girl is the key to this team making it very far. Dawson will get hers but the roll players again will need to get theirs. If they just had a coach. Just kiddin Scott. Good Luck to THE LADY TIGERS.
