Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #5
Valley up by 9 on Huntington with under a minute to play! Yates fouled out with 3 minutes to go and Dwyer fouled out with 2 to go.
pfloyd,
You think this win, especially with Yates and Dwyer fouling out will be enough to get the Indians in the Elite 8?

Big win for the Indians over the Huntsmen who came into the game at 9-1. Valley goes to 7-2 overal (4-0 in SOC 2), while Huntington falls to 9-2.chicken_coop wrote:Yates, Dwyer and Rehil ALL fouled out of the game..

Real nice win for Valley. One note, Huntington is only 8-2.
Not sure if it's been posted here, but: Piketon over Vinton Co, 71-58

My fault. I thought I saw where they were 8-1 before last night. It must have been 8-1 after last night. I've been running a fever all day so my vision could be a little rusty.danicalifornia wrote:Real nice win for Valley. One note, Huntington is only 8-2.

No biggie, just was fixing it. Either way, Huntington has a nice ball club, so it's a very good non-conference win.
Southeastern 54
Western 36
SE moves to 6-3 and will host Huntington next Friday night. If they can get a W, they'll still be in the thick of the SVC race.

dani,
I appreciate the "assist".
From the game updates I was getting, I was told it was a VERY physical ballgame. Along with Valley's top 3 players fouling out, a Huntington player got a technical and Howard from Valley sustained a bloody nose. Sounds like the game was definitely a battle between two very solid teams.

Better night for the SVC
Adena hung with a decent Minford team for 3 1/2 quarters before turnovers and FTs doomed them. They might be winless, but it was nice to see them still working hard and the coaching staff still coaching them up. Had a good game plan, just couldn't make the shots when they needed to. This team won't go winless.
Huntington loses at Valley, but battled and will only get better from playing a tough non-league opponent on the road like that. Both teams will have solid 2nd halves and should be at the Convo in March.
Zane Trace snaps their 3 game losing streak with an easy win over McClain.
Southeastern keeps their hot streak alive with a win over Western. Coach Uhrig gets a W over one of his mentors in Coach Jordan.
Piketon bounces back from a heartbreaker and gets a nice neutral court victory over Vinton County.

TVC insider:
The team South Gallia lost to Saturday (Buffalo) is 6-3 after its win over the Rebels ... Buffalo also beat Wahama 71-68.
Nelsonville-York is quietly moving up the 'watch list' sitting at (7-3 overall).
Southern's win over Belpre was pretty big ... Belpre had just beat Marietta 62-43 at home on Jan. 3rd - the Tornadoes swoop in and beat the Golden Eagles on the same court 63-49 three days later.

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #5
Chillicothe definitely had the most impressive week in the district...topping a solid Warren team without Johnson and then beating a very good Dublin Coffman squad. Have to move them up.
