Re: WK 8 South Point @ Fairland
A very good game Jake Seagraves was a man tonight along with Ryan Plants. This game could've went either way. Fhs was the victim of several bad calls and it didn't help that bloomfield was not a 100% the second half. I never thought I would see a game were Salyers and Bloomfield both get unsportsmanlike penalties. I hope we never see this crew again because they sucked. Dragons showed a lot of heart tonight and never gave up. Just remember if we win out we still can be OVC champs.Put this fiasco behind us and lets set our sights on peake.
Re: WK 8 South Point @ Fairland
Coal Grove will sleep well tonight: A win against River Valley next week guarantees them at least a third of the OVC title.
No defense in this one - just like I expected....

way to go pointers!!!!!!!!! i guess our little "puppies" (as all the others were saying) grew up tonight! congrats! keep going!
and ovc 11 i agree, i think SP also has the best running game in the OVC. they just gotta work on their defense and silly mistakes.

What bad call? If you're referring to the punt return...the Fairland kid did touch the ball, but he didn't down it. The ball hadn't come to a stop. The ball must be brought to a rest to be downed as such. As it was, it was still a live ball, but the ball could not be marked any further downfield than the 30 (where it was touched).
If you're referring to the roughing the kicker...yeah that could have been running into the kicker perhaps.
Outside of that, I have no clue what the Fairland folks were upset about. It was a wonderful football game and offensively well played. Fairland's defense was really strong between the tackles, but Seagraves wore on them. South Point couldn't trap them at all up front. Fairland took care of the football, which was a problem in years past. All in all, a great high school football game.

good game by both teams. however, talk about how you all got screwed by refs all you want. last night was so much worse. coach snyder is never someone to blame someone for the refs and he did in the newspaper. first off, the kid going to block the punt got pushed from behind and even put his hands up to prevent from hitting the punter. so at the most he should had been flagged for running into the punter. the downed punt, i dont care what anyone says, that was crap. the kid touched the ball. the ball even changed position from where he touched it. they were going to call it back but they stook with the terrible call. another bad call was one of the dragons recievers going out for the pass and getting tackled and not getting an interference call. i mean what is that? besides that it was a good hard football game by two good teams. but if sp people want to see REAL horrible officiating, last night was a great example.

Hey no excuses here! You guys won!I just hope we can tie for the OVC now! I do know one thing for sure though,I wasnt there but if Roger Snyder was that upset about a call it must not have been a good one!
Re: WK 8 South Point @ Fairland
It was a great game. Both teams left it all on the field. Both teams have great backs but I think it is time to give the give the O-lines some props. The backs are not doing it on their own. great job Pointers and Go Dragons beat CG.....

This is a moronic post, probably appropriately attributed to a moron.
This was a great game to watch. Mistakes were the key determining factor in the outcome of the game. As I posted previously, a lot of talent on both sides of the ball = a great game. Could've gone either way.

Weather it was running into the kicker or roughing the kicker, that play was early in the 1st quarter and Fairland had plenty of more chances to stop SP after that....cant complain about that when it came withen the first 6 minutes of the game or so...

The rule on a downed punt says the kicking team must STOP THE BALL for it to be dead. Not simply touch it. He tapped the ball, he didn't down it. You even said it changed position from where he touched it. That is true...and it was still moving when Woodson picked it up and took off. That was a high football IQ play from Woodson.
Ask any of the officials on the board about the first touch rule.

Re: WK 8 South Point @ Fairland
The ball came to a complete stop it had stopped moving. I just watched the tape. If that was the only bad call I don't think Sp wins but it was not. This game is over and I congratulate the pointers on this hard fought victory. I think the dragons end up tri -champs of the OVC.

Pioneer_Pa,
A question: Can you tell me if it makes a difference if the official blows the whistle? I thought that signaled a dead ball and a dead ball cannot be advanced.
