That was funny......a 40 yard field goal attempt by what appeared to be an older Lady. Heck I couldn't make that, I might be able to hit the goal line lol. I guess they really didn't want to give them wings away.
Re: WK 8 Ironton @ Portsmouth (Rival Game)
portsmouth just does not have the players like they used to in late 90's and early 2000's makes a big differerence! do not think this is a big win at all! competition across the area has gone down tremendously! 98-03 tigers would make this team look stupid!

Re: WK 8 Ironton @ Portsmouth (Rival Game)
First of all......congrats to the Tigers.
I would like to comment on one thing I have NEVER seen in a football game..........the officiating crew tonight after a 4th down play, picked the football up in between the hash marks, carried it to the sideline, TO THE CHAINS, for a measurement to see if a first down was made????????? I have never seen or heard of this done ever before........needless to say, the ball was not turned over on downs to us.........

It's far easier to pick up that ball and move it than try to drag those heavy chains out on the field

Actually I have seen that done before and it was at Portsmouth and it was done on the Portsmouth side of the field.I never understood it then, and I still don't.We commented on it.Also when the safety took place they marked the ball a yard into the endzone like they didnt know where they were at.
Re: WK 8 Ironton @ Portsmouth (Rival Game)
Congrats to the Tigers on the victory, the only thing missing was very many points in the regional picture.

from where we were sitting we could see the one official standing on the goal line looking at the player getting tackled in the end zone and he made no attempt to call a safety.......maybe the official in the backfield is the only one allowed to signal a safety........
I have never seen the ball moved to the chains.......except for the last time we were in Portsmouth.....

Picking the ball up and moving it to measure has happened before at Portsmouth.

Way to go Tigers........
I just want to say Lamb your the man, you did one heck of a job tonight against the big guy. I watched that matchup all night and all I can say is WOW I'm impressed.
Hope Lukas is allright and ready to go next week, any word on his injury yet.

Re: WK 8 Ironton @ Portsmouth (Rival Game)
Congratulations to the Fighting Tigers on the win.
I felt the kickoff return after Portsmouth took a 6-0 lead turned the game around......after that, Ironton pretty much had their way with the Trojans......with that said, I do feel that our defense actually played a good game, but just wore down as the game progressed. Our offense had spurts of good play, but really couldn't sustain anything after that initial score.
IHS is headed to the playoffs......and they showed me the ability to throw the ball.....something they will have to do to advance in the postseason.
GO TROJANS!!!

Congrats to Ironton on the big win!
As for the ball being moved to the chains...I have seen it done at several football fields. Not just Portsmouth.

MY FIRST TIME WATCHING A TIGER GAME FROM THE PORTSMOUTH SIDE ASIDE FROM PLAYOFF GAMES. i was up there with , dowwgg, ozzohio, grey fighting tiger, turke and the prune juice gang. mr. and mrs. mum. the trojans started out strong, and looked like it could be a long in trojan land. but they only had 3 seniors on offense, and when they got down , the youth showed. they will be tough the next 2 years. and beyond. the fighting tigers looked sluggish at first, but good play by the trojans kept them in tact , the first quarter, then they hit their stride and muscled out a very nice solid win. i feel sorry for the young trojans this year, but we are just coming out of a similiar situation. thanks to the portsmouth dad's for the huge feast , excellent i must say. tigers it's time to go buckeye huntin.

hey Bait i'm not saying this but somebody told me ironton wasn't that good and portsmouth kept shooting themselves in the foot and that's why they lost. personally i think Ironton was just the better team.
