Why only a Sunday pitcher ?? :?: ?? If my daughter is good enough for Sunday games, does that mean she CAN NOT play in Friday or Saturday games ?? :?: ?? Does she get to dress only on Sunday ?? :?: ?? Does she have to pay the same team fee as all the other girls on the team ?? :?: ?? Does she get a jersey of her own or does she have to share one with another player ? And if she does, does that player NOT get to play on Sunday ?? :?: ??

Pardon me for asking, but the statement leaves a lot of questions to be answered !! :122246 !!

A "Sunday" pitcher is an "Ace" pitcher. Anyone can pitch in pool play games (Friday and Saturday), but Sunday is when you play for keeps and use your best pitchers. That is when you play elimination games. Why all of the sarcastic remarks in your post?

MOV Flamin Fury is a fine organization that win lots of games. The girls they had in 07 at 12u were fantastic , assuming the core stayed together this should be very good team. Redsfan --good description of a sunday pitcher !

hey REDSFAN.....the reason for the sarcastic remarks is because I DO NOT believe in bringing in an "ACE" "STUD" for only Sunday games !
what does that tell the other parents and players on this team ? "Your daughter is good enough for us on Friday and Saturday, but dont bother showing up on Sunday because our "ACE" "STUD" is taking your daughters place on the roster."
Thats whats wrong with travel ball....still to much emphasis on winning !

Travel ball puts too much emphasis on winning?!? Give me a break! Isn't that why some kids practice practically year 'round and parents pay to travel all over the US? Why is winning a bad thing? I don't care what people say, losing sucks! Yes, kids learn from losing, as they should. But people who say it's ok to lose are lying through their teeth!

Why are some parents so scared to face reality? Why can't they look honestly at their kid and accept that maybe they aren't perfect in everything? Why is it so bad to label a kid a "Sunday Pitcher" or and "Ace Pitcher" when that kid is outside (or inside) throwing 5-6 days a week. If they put that much effort into it shouldn't they have the luxury of pitching when a championship is on the line? If a kid wants to be a "Sunday Pitcher" then make them earn it! I'd be willing to bet that most kids don't have a problem not being the "Sunday Pitcher" until they hear mommy and daddy whinning about it. Kids learn from how their parents react to a situation more than anything else. Think about it......

I guess it isn't good to have an ace pitcher. That way no players or parents get their feelings hurt when the coach has to decide who is going to pitch in the championship game. Heck.............just let everyone on the team pitch an inning! That is one of the silliest things I have ever heard.

Gomer and RedsFan.......MY DAUGHTER is a "STUD" "ACE" "SUNDAY" pitcher.....YES she works her 10 year old A$$ off and practices 5,6,7 days a week. I know this, her mother knows this, she knows this and her team knows this !!!!!
You two are completely missunderstanding what I stated.
My daughter plays for the team, EVERY stinkin inning she is out there busting her butt to help the team "WIN" !
What I stated is that I DO NOT believe in bringing in a player to play ONLY on Sunday ! If she is that good shouldn't she be playing ALL WEEKEND ?????
I am all for winning, but let the team be a TEAM. Again I ask you, "What is it teaching the other players on the team if you bring in one PLAYER ONLY FOR SUNDAY GAMES ?"

I don't know what organization your daughter plays in or even if she plays travel ball at all, but I have never seen a travel team play a girl on Sunday only. Again......I believe the term "Sunday pitcher" was being used as a figure of speach. Maybe "quality pitcher" or "experienced pitcher" would have been better. It is rather obvious that if you are good enough to pitch on Sunday you will also be pitching/playing on Friday and Saturday. There are just some instances where teams may use less experienced or in most cases younger pitchers in pool play games that may not get to pitch on Sunday.

Red's Fan you are correct, the pitcher we are looking for will be a vital part of our whole weekend, but especially on Sunday.
