I'm talking about your comment pertaining to ALL wrestlers not eating in order to wrestle a certain weight class. Not ALL kids practice what you are saying. Also, you made your comment on the forum of "What schools need to add wrestling?" as if to say THIS is the reason wrestling should not be added. I totally agree with you regarding the healthy way to lose weight, but your statement wasn't interpreted that way.

does anyone know if there is a youth wrestling program anywhere close to Coal Grove? I have a son who is interested in trying wrestling instead of basketball.

gogrove9...Try talking with Coal Grove's head wrestling coach. He should know who the youth coach is and how to get ahold of him (or her ;-) ). When I started the SOYWL that's how I got ahold of all the youth coaches. Sometimes the HS coach either coaches or helps with the youth teams (yes, they are allowed to do this, because I checked it out with OHSAA last year).

Good luck...this is a wonderful sport! I have many great memories from the years that my son wrestled. Wish he still did, but since I can't watch him, I help with the "up and comers" to get my fill! :-D

Thanks, but Coal Grove doesn't offer wrestling at the high school anymore. I have tried to talk to some people about getting it started again but no luck. Maybe there will be someone in the area that offers it. THANKS!

So there isn't a single wrestling team in Scioto County?

It's too short a list!

that list is a big reason why Southeast Ohio gets zero respect from the rest of the State

There has been talk at South Point that kids of neighboring schools can play a sport at a local school if the home school does not offer it. Is this true? Take for instance soccer and wrestling I am sure there are kids that would come to SP to play soccer and some that would want to go to the Peake for wrestling. They don't have to switch schools but get to play on the other schools' team. I know this probably wouldnt' work politically but in a sport that doesn't have the numbers like soccer. It might keep a team from having to not being able to offer the sport due to low numbers. Any one have knowledge of ths being able to happen?

South Gallia has had kids run cross country for South Gallia but they practiced with River Valley. I would imagine that kids could wrestle from a school without a wrestling team and they could wrestle independently at tournaments.

I know Northwest needs to focus on football but i would like them get one. We had a boy come down from batavia tell us about it and it seemed very interesting

Wrestling and football and track go hand in hand in hand.
