Think pink this month and remind all the loved ones in your life to do self exams and have their mammygrams or Mangrams as I call them because a man had to design those machines :122249

My Mother is a breast cancer survivor. She found a lump when I was 15 and she was 43. She went through a terrible few years of chemotherapy but survived. She had a reoccurence about 5 years ago but is okay. She is 73 now and is one of the most active 73 year old woman that I know. I can't imagine losing her when I was 15. My sister and I remain very vigilent about our mammograms and self exam. Do it for your health ladies, and in our area if your insurance doesn't cover an exam or you have none there is a program that pays. Ask your doctor or OBGYN.

I lost my Mother four years ago today with breast cancer. She had her breast removed and underwent chemo and radiation treatments when she was 79. Three years later it returned and Mama was gone within three weeks. She started out with fiber cystic deasease which Myself, my sister, and both of my daughters have. We make sure we go to the doctor with every lump because you just never know. The new digital mamagrams aren't as bad as the old ones. They are quicker and don't press down quite as hard as the old machines, and they give a clearer view.

Sorry to hear about your Mother grndma1, my Mom and Grandmother both have had breast cancer. I hope to bypass that in my life. So far everything has been fine for me and my sister but don't think I don't worry before I hear if my mammogram is fine. I lived through my Mom's chemo years, vomiting, hair loss, night sweats, no veins to put her I.V. chemo in because they had used so many, etc. I wouldn't wish her experience on anyone. Then this past time surgery, and then radiation. She is a real trooper.

My mother died from breast cancer whenever I was 13. That was many years ago and I still remember what a horrible experience chemotherapy was and still is for those who have to go through it. I have mammograms every year, faithfully, and by the grace of God maybe I never will have to endure that. Awesome thing is, she's in heaven and someday I will get to see her again......in perfect health. :-D :-D
