Re: Southern 08-09
Its going t be tough for southern this year...they lost their "big man", for a lack of a better term. This southern team is small and that doesnt work to their advantage...yes they are quick but dont have the strength to contend...A young team with only one senior,Hunter...lets just hope they stick with it through this season to better them selves for the future.

Re: Southern 08-09
The Lady 'Does haven't looked too bad in their first two scrimmages.
The ladies won or tied all periods against OVC in what could best be called an 'ugly' scrimmage. Both squads looked as if they were not sure what to do on the offensive end of the floor.
Against Rock Hill the Tornadoes were out sized at every position; however, managed to win all periods by pushing the ball up the court and running the Ladies of Rock Hill into submission.
The keys for Southern will be to limit turnovers, use overall team speed, and stay out of foul trouble. With only 6 upperclassmen (5 returning from last year's team) and no sophomores, the freshman will be pushed into service early. Depending on how they respond to the pressure of varsity play may be as big a factor in Southern's season as anything.
Who will be key players? With only 10 players on the squad, "ALL" players will need to step up and fill the role of key player at different times throughout the year.

southern is due for a good season. if they hustle like i know they can...they will be fun to watch. i agree with nutz_4_sports....evey player on their team needs to be and will be a "key" player. that's what makes them a TEAM!

I haven't seen Southern girls play in a couple years. Hopefully I can make it to a few this year. Good luck Lady Does

Southern has a decent team this year. They have alot of speed and great ball handling bt lack of height and LEADERSHIP! They have a good guard in Thomas. She is only a freshman and she will become very good as she gets older.
