Re: WEEK 9 ~ ZANESVILLE (3-5) @ GALLIA ACADEMY (5-3)
Gallipolis played well tonight. There defense probably played as well as it could have. We definatley had trouble moving the ball on Zanesville but a lot of other teams have as well. Who would have thought that this game would even be close. Remember most people had Gallipolis winning one or two games this year and at worst we will be 500 and with a little luck maybe even make the playoffs. I for one am proud of the way our team has played and it seems like we are still getting better. GO BLUE

what can you say ? it was a defensive struggle all night one things for sure no needs to bad mouth the defense after tonight they played a heck of a game and never quit . The offense could'nt get goin but they never gave up they played every down like it was the last I'd say we were very well scouted. AS for the boys you all played a heck of a game tonight now let's close out the season with a win next week .

BBALLIN, Ralph has moved back from NY and is building a log cabin house going towards OAK HILL.GAHSFAN06 THE ELKS COACHING STAFF showed the kids more than the basics and fundamentals of the game, thats what made us champs and yes some of our players were athletic, but for the ones who wasnt, they were when we got done with them and there is not one ELK PLAYER who would tell you that they didnt have fun learning the ELK way.BLAZE275 you said that you coached midget league, not being a member of the ELKS coaching staff wouldnt have anything to do with you not being varsity coaching material would it?I would put any of those guys including myself in an upper leval coching position.

I take nothing away from anyone who volunteers there time with coaching midget league, summer baseball, soccer or basketball or anything else but to compare coaching in those leages or to boast about your coaching records in those leages is sad and there is no way shape or form that you can compare them with high school. I was however a paper football champion in grade school, one time I had 8 consecutive extra points. Now that being compared to high school ball is fair. LOL

Congrats to Zanesville. The better team won. If not for the TO's Gallipolis would have their heads handed to them on a platter.

All coaches start at the bottom and work there way up. most any way, them some is handed the job. Just like the AD at GA told me many years ago! I ask about his job what kind training, or who help him get started, he laugh and said they threw him in the fire, imo any one can be called coach, but the bottom line! can you coach. to different things.HEY Super Blue OZ is a good coach!!! BBALL next.

Re: WEEK 9 ~ ZANESVILLE (3-5) @ GALLIA ACADEMY (5-3)
To say that the score would have been 30-0 if not for the turnovers in stupid. I thinkl Gallipolis had something to do with the turnovers. I hate that argument that if it werent for turnovers someone would have won by a lot more or a lot less. I guess you can use the same stupid argument that if we would have ran some punts back for tds than maybe we would have won. RIDICULOUS. By the way dont be a hater, like it or not Gallipolis has had a hell of a year and all of us TRUE BLUE DEVIL FANS are proud of them. They have had more wins than anyone ever beleived. I spoke to a member of the Zanesville coaching staff after the game and he was very impressed by Gallipolis and the way that there defense held up. He was also very complimentary of our coachingstaff, players, and our fans. He was definatley a class act.GO DEVILS

gahs4ever wrote:GA was lucky tonight???? You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Were you even there? Those kids played one heck of a game that was a field possession game the entire night with the game played deep in GA territory and our defense making play after play and stop after stop.
The goal line stand late in the fourth quarter was a thing of beauty for a defense that was on the field the entire game and continued to make plays. After the first 60 yard drive of the game for Zanesville, GAHS stopped ZHS as follows over the next 3+ quarters (check this out bballin): 4 plays for 18 yards, 3 plays for 8 yards, 1 play for 27 yards and a fumble recovered by GAHS, 7 plays for 29 yards, 5 plays for 8 yards, 3 plays for 6 yards, 8 plays for 27 yards, and finally 10 plays for 41 yards stopped at the GA 5 on a great goal line stand.
In all Zanesville had less than 200 yards total offense on a night when the GAHS offense struggled to gain 100. Outstanding defensive effort against a quality opponent. The Gallians did not get the ball into Zanesville territory one time until the last possession of the game, which explains in total why we were in such a hole all night lone, and yet our kids refused to fold their tents.
I am proud of every one of our kids, and continue to enjoy this season as much as or even more than recent campaigns.
That goal line stance was a thing of beauty.
But, like I said earlier the D was on the field to long.
Ditto to you post 4ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Not true a at all, this coach was great and said at times this year he was very upset with his teams effort. He commented that Gallipolis hit hard but seemed to have a little trouble moving the ball on Friday night. Whoever he was he was a class act . GO BLUE DEVILS

Re: WEEK 9 ~ ZANESVILLE (3-5) @ GALLIA ACADEMY (5-3)
The Gallipolis team should keep there heads up and have all of the pride in the world. Nobody gave them a shot Friday night and they hung in there. Dont let Zanesvilles record fool you they are a very good football team. There fullback was bruising and there halfback was very quick. I really liked there qb and was glad that they did not use his arm more, he had the ability to scramble and make some nice plays. That was a good game for all of the old time guys who like defense. Zanesville looks like a solid team. Hats off to them for the win. GAHS played well, especially on defense. I think Gallipolis' youthfulness showed a bit on offense, but overall it was a good job by the GAHS crew. Our guys played hard and hung in there. We just couldn't take advantage of the Zanesville turnovers. Better luck next week against Marietta.

Re: WEEK 9 ~ ZANESVILLE (3-5) @ GALLIA ACADEMY (5-3)
GA could have bagged after we sliced right down the field and scored on that first drive. They didn't. Yes, some of the ZHS mistakes/turnovers were GA-induced. And some -- as has been the case all season -- were ZHS-induced. Combined, that all helped keep the score close.
I will say, however, that as the game wore on, I never felt like we were going to lose that because I just didn't think GA could muster enough offense. I figured it would just be a freakish series of events that would have to take place for us to lose. But trying to predict what the final score "could have been" is pure conjecture. In the end, it proved to be a "W" for a bunch of young guys who were playing without three key starters.
And frankly, I don't know if the fact we were playing on a grazable surface for just the second time this season might also have been a factor.
I just think some of you are doing your program and your community a little disservice by coming on here and griping like you are.
We enjoyed our visit (even if we didn't get home until 1 a.m.!), and we hope you enjoy your return trip in about 52 weeks.
