imo, the game wasn't really decided until Z scored the second TD with about 4 minutes to go. The Gallia Academy Blue Devils were only one pass play away from going ahead. Please do not forget that.
Hats off to both defenses.

1- own 29
2- own 20 GA fumble ZV recover on own 37 (stopped a GA 10 play 43 yd drive)
3- own 23
4- own 26
5- own 20
6- own 25
7- own 4 GA muffed punt/GA recover on 4
8- own 20
9- own 5
10- own 45 and this one with 1:36 to go and down 12-0. Only time in ZV territory of game.

GAHS4EVER -- Go back to No. 2. You noted we recovered on OUR 37, so that last drive would have been the second time GAHS was in our territory.

But your enumeration of drive starts really shows something important in the crux of this particular game. I think it's one reason why some think it SHOULD have been far worse. But it wasn't. And YOUR Blue Devils had a lot to do with that.

Good luck at Marietta. Finish up strong!

Also, ol' boy, go to www.sulsbergerstadium.com to see what we've done with the place ... and what we're working on!

It was a good game... i have enjoyed everyone's idea's on why te outcome of the game was what it was... Let me tell you...I saw a very classy Zanesville prgram come to town...After EVERY play the Zanesville men were heling our players up, patting our players on the helmets and they showed alot of class... The also palyed a very good ball game. Yes they made some mistakes but so did Gallipolis. I mean there were alot of things that could have changed the game that Gallia did as well.. .I mean if Moore could have hit even half of the open recievers we had open then we would have had better chances...Moore had an off day. Our defense played very well. I think after Allison came out things changed a bit because he was making most of the stops in the middle. And the mysterious flaf late in the 2 quarter. BUt you know what the bottom line is Zanesville one so congrats to them they deserved the win. We can nit pick the whole entire game but it will not change the outcome, and I am really getting tired of everyone talking about playoffs for Gallipolis... We need to learn how to tackle and do some fundamentals before we should consider ourself a playoff team.....Good luck big Blue next week at Marrietta and once again Congrats to a VERY CLASSY ZHS program.

I guess this sign did not work. GAHS should be pround there kids played hard there fans were great and the atomspere was good for football. Now saying that I hope there field project comes to life because that was the worst surfaces I have ever seen!!! NO GRASS from the 30 to 30 in the middle of the field. Next year you guys wont have to worry about that also your uniforms will stay nice and clean on Zville Turfs!! The Home of the real Blue Devils!!!!!

zbd, you talk alot of crap to be in the division your in and be 3-5 and only beat a team by 2 tds that probably only played 3 or 4 seniors,3 sophmores and the rest jrs. and that was the defense . how can you call yourself the real BLUE DEVILS when your talk is so cheap :aaaaa46 Boy i bet those buses sure were expensive to travel all that way to only score 2 touchdowns , know wonder your coaches only ordered mc donalds after the game. :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24

Big poppa

A win is a win you can always say what if, What if we dont fumble throw inteception but thing is Zville won!!! yes we are 4-5 it has been a tough year and I am not saying your boys did play well because they did. I did not know all your sports teams played on that field yes that makes a difference. So I will say sorry for that. Now saying that I would think it would be easier to raise mony for the new field seeing how many teams play on it?

GAHSfever

The buses were for the team and band there was know fan bus because we are not wining. I did not expect that many fans at the game. Now saying that how fans will you guys bring next year? Also we only play 2 SR rest JR and Soph read the roster I know what being a young team is all about!!!!

Easy there, big fella! :122245

Anyway, for those who want to chide us for the charters, and as I mentioned to GAHS4EVER the other night, beyond a certain distance of travel, the use of the charter buses is actually CHEAPER than running school buses. We take the Cheeseboxes on our "short" trips, to places such as Nerk or Licking Valley, but usually charters to almost all others. One reason is because of our Quarterback Club, which helps foot the bill. Our band travels that way a little less frequently, but will certainly do so again when we venture to Jackson this weekend.

We've also gotten a little spoiled with surfaces this year. Eight of our 10 games were scheduled for an artificial track. We were fortunate to get Nerk's White Field on the opening weekend. It would be virtually expected that Memorial Field would be well-worn by this time of the season. I know you folks are aiming for a new stadium facility (though I think that $5 million goal is way out there; you folks sure you NEED that much?). But if you stay true to that pursuit, you'll have a facility that will benefit your entire community.

Considering the distance of travel on a Friday night, I would not have expected many more fans from here even if we were winning as we were last year (and too bad you folks didn't get to see that group!). Anyone who got off work at 5 would have been hard-pressed to make it by kickoff, if even then. It certainly is NOT a direct route to Gallipolis!

Best of luck at Marietta, and we'll see y'all Week 9 up here next year.

zbd, Gallipolis historicaly travels well even at 2 hr plus places away. I am sure our crowd will show up. That was a great game Friday night. Gallipolis defense probably played a little over there head and there offense was definatly sub par. Zanesville has a nice squad and I have mentioned several times that I beleive they are much better than there 4-5 record. Nobody should take anything away from either team.

My 2 cents are simply this, we played a very good team and came out on the losing end regardless of a valiant effort. ZHS was very very disciplined on defense. My assessment was that every player on the team had close to the same amount of quicks and they were always in the right place. They were a very classy team from what I saw and I am proud of GAHS for hanging like they did. Their QB threw a beautiful ball and their backs ran hard. With that said both teams seemed to leave it on the field and as a fan that's all I expect. ZHS is much better than their records shows. My prediction is that 2 much improved fball teams will meet next fall for another good football game.

On a side note I think they scouted better than anyone did against us all year and had their kids ready for what GAHS brought to the table. I described their defense to my father as college like as far as their discipline. Much like the Ironton teams that have beaten us in the past. Very well coached team!!!! Both teams played solid d and one team left a victor and the other with a loss but no losers on that field.

As for the MFL discussion, nearly 1/2 of the starters for GAHS came from 1/6 of the MFL league, NUFF SAID!!!!!! A couple teams teach the fundamentals better than the others and w's take care of themselves. At that level it really isn't about athletic ability but more about fundamentals. Gamenight is fun time and practice is development time!!!!

Our defense also had the benefit of playing "spread"-style teams the previous three weeks (Logan, St. Charles, Marietta), all of whom implemented that offense in different ways. But I was pleased at how they played since they were missing a couple starters, including our best LB.
