No love for Eastern? It is fine to predict the way you think the leagues will finish but how can you right now rank Eastern below Notre Dame and New Boston when Eastern has beat them both?dukefan wrote:soc 1 notre dame eastern new boston sv western green east clay 3 team horse my predicting finish is nd newboston eastern soc 2 waverly valley webster minford ohill west burg nwest waverly wins it
1. Eastern 2. Notre Dame 3. New Boston 4. Symmes Valley 5. Western 6. Green 7. East 8. Clay
SOC2 I see a 2 horse race between Valley and Waverly. Minford, Webster, and Oak Hill are all in the next level and can pull of an upset or two.

Re: soc 1 soc 2 power rankings
It seems to me that New Boston is ranked below Eastern both in the first post and in the quoted text. I agreed with having Notre Dame ahead of Eastern, though, in spite of the Eagles being my SOC I pick and their good play of late.
As for my rankings: Team (12/24 rank) [overall, conference records]:
SOC I
1. Notre Dame (1) [7-2, 3-1] -- The Titans will be favored in the picks in every game the rest of the season. The key for them will be playing each game and not looking ahead t something like Jan. 20.
2. Eastern (2) [5-3, 4-0] -- The Eagles were impressive at the Holiday Classic but still boast the division’s second-best resume. I promised them No. 1 with an opening-round win at the downtown arena but a rough 3rd quarter sunk their chances.
3. New Boston (3) [5-2, 2-2] -- The Tigers could have hung their heads after back-to-back losses to Nos. 1 and 2, but they rebounded and have two more wins heading into a tough test at Symmes Valley.
4. Symmes Valley (4) [3-5, 3-1] -- Symmes has struggled away from home but still has a shot at each of the top three in their home arena.
5. Western (6) (2-7, 2-2] -- Only Notre Dame has played the Tigers better at Glenwood High School. Western continues to improve as the season wears on.
6. East (8) [2-5, 1-3] -- Saw the Tartans at the Ironton Classic and didn’t think they looked like a team that should be winless. Now they’ve won two of three but have a pair of tough tests in Sciotoville this week.
7. Clay (5) [1-7, 1-3] -- This team got off to a solid start and I was thinking they could make a run at the upper-middle of the SOC I but things have turned south of late. Here’s to hoping they turn things around in the near future.
8. Green (7) [1-7, 0-4] – Winless since their season opener, the Bobcats have two chances to move out of the rankings cellar this week with a trip to Clay before the No. 2 Eastern Eagles head into the Furnace.
SOC II
1. Vallley (1) [7-2, 4-0] -- The Huntington game marked the start of a brutal five-game stretch for the Indians. Oak Hill and South Webster come to visit this week before a “Beasts of the Southeast†(Saturday) contest and a showdown with the Waverly Tigers (1/17).
2. Waverly (2) [7-2, 4-0] -- They're getting scoring from multiple players and really firing on all cylinders now. If they survive Tuesday’s trip to South Webster (no easy task), we could have a battle of SOC II unbeatens next Tuesday.
3. Minford (3) [6-3, 2-2] – They’re winning (four of their last five to be exact) but the schedule is going to take a very difficult turn in the not-too-distant future.
4. South Webster (4) [4-3, 3-1] -- Had to talk myself out of moving the Jeeps back to No. 3 … at least for this week. The Tigers and Indians certainly aren’t happy to see them coming on the schedule this week.
5. Oak Hill (5) [7-2, 2-2] -- All the goodwill they built up with an impressive victory at Fairland went by the wayside with their first game of the New Year. I did not expect that at Oak Hill.
6. West (6) [2-6, 1-3] -- Since beating Wheelersburg in overtime, West has been outscored 173-109 in three contests. Two of those were against the SOC’s top two teams, however.
7. Wheelersburg (7) [1-7, 0-4] -- It's going to happen. The question is … which of the SOC II’s upper tier will suffer a defeat at the hands of the Pirates?
8. Northwest (8) [1-7, 0-4] -- A pair of opportunities for a conference win sandwich a chance for an upset at Waverly.

Re: soc 1 soc 2 power rankings
Ill agree with X here this week. The gap between 1-4 in the 2nd division is small though.
Re: soc 1 soc 2 power rankings
I do agree with The_X_Factor's poll although I think the West win Against Burg could have been partially because it was early and Burg's youth showed. Webster is an interesting team. They have the best player in the league, in my opinion, in Austin Loop, and can beat anyone. They also have some inexperience problems and are a team that will only keep improving which will make them dangerous in tournaments as well as late in conference play.

I think your boys will win at least one of the two next week. I'll pick 'em Tuesday, but not Friday although it could go the other way around.

Re: soc 1 soc 2 power rankings
Western has a tuff one at home tonight with Notre Dame. The young Indians are struggleing with the bigger D-3 teams on there schedual but competing with league teams so far but the titans are no regular league team they are deep and very, very physical for the Indians to be in this game they have to hope the officials don't let the game get out of hand.

From an innocent bystander
SOC I
1. Eastern --- The Eagles only 3 losses came from very good teams. I am giving them that slight edge to Notre Dame.
2. Notre Dame --- I think they will eventually come back down to earth. No real big wins.
3. Symmes Valley --- Symmes is a tough place to play and I think they will beat New Boston and that's why I have them ahead of them.
4. New Boston --- Only losses came from my #1 an #2.
5. Western --- With one of the coaching legends at the helm, Western will be competitive by the end.
6. Clay --- They will get it turned around. Lost alot of talent last year.
7. East --- Couple of good kids. Won a couple this past week to make them start climing the ladder.
8. Green --- Started out strong but been winless in 7 straight.
SOC II
1. Vallley --- I think they are the best team in the conference. Had a tough stretch of games that they won.
2. Waverly --- A close number one right now. #1 and #2 play soon.
3. Oak Hill --- Fairland win looks really good now with the way they played Chesapeake. Oh yeah, They have Norm!!!
4. Minford --- Tough road ahead
5. South Webster --- Tough place to play. We will find out how good they are this week.
6. West --- Only reason they are ahead of Wheelersburg is because they beat them.
7. Wheelersburg ---Good coaching will prevail. They will be a tough beat by the end.
8. Northwest --- Been struggling as of late.

Waverly is playing some pretty good ball and getting better. Valley struggled against Oak Hill, will be interesting to see how the Valley/Webster game comes out.
