Re: First AP Poll
Chillicothe should receive the most votes of any D2 school in the district with its wins and resumes, including beating Warren without Johnson. But sometimes folks look at record more than resume. What I tell folks is this isn't a big deal. It's proven on the court or the football field in the fall.

Re: First AP Poll
What a joke. Oak Hill is ranked and Portsmouth is not. Ptown would mop the floor with Oak Hill.
AP Poll same ol crap. Same teams get ranked and then come tourney time they can't back it up on the court.

Re: First AP Poll
It just an opinion. Nothing to get upset about. It is nice to see though. Might be because Warren hasnt had a team in the state tournament. Might be like the rest of the folks say. Chili has too tough a schedule. Nonetheless, its just an opinion. Nothing more.

Re: First AP Poll
The polls start off off but they are surprising accurate by the end. Just look at the final polls and see how the tournaments go. Probably as the writers get better informed and the smoke clears a little.

Re: First AP Poll
Someone clip and save that article with the ratings then come back in March and see which ones made it to the state tournament. The voters need to really look at the big picture on Ohio hoops.

I know it's early and this really means nothing. But how are oak hill and Chillicothe Huntington ranked in the top 15? Who has oak hill beat? And I know Wellston beat Huntington.

Re: First AP Poll
I am a HUGE Warren fan, and their record is 8-1, not 9-1, but I don't see them at number 4 in Div. II. I have been frustated with losing sooooo close at the districts, and the fact that we have never been beyond districts, that I could not rank them in the top 10. I think they are around 15 and will have to prove to me that they deserve higher by getting past the districts. I am not knocking Warren in any way, but this team could do that this year if they go back to being intense on defense like their first several games. I did not see the Chillicothe game, so I can't comment on that. Warren can advance if they stay healthy, continue their great defense, and have a little lady luck on their side. Go Warriors!

Re: First AP Poll
The AP Poll will change quite a bit in the next 6 weeks.........Portsmouth was not ranked at all until the final poll last season..........the Trojans finished 10th with a 16-4 record.
If the Trojans keep winning, they will be ranked eventually.

Re: First AP Poll
Not trying to defend the AP because we all know its a popularity contest especially in the beginning but the NCAA polls kind of mimic the same thing. Real hit and miss with the NCAAs & polls just like it is with the final AP high school rankings. The Chef always looks at them as just a reference and fun to talk about around the dinner table. Right now Indiana has lost only once and has beaten Ohio State, Michigan, and Kentucky but they are 8th. Figure that one out.
Re: First AP Poll
#4 AP ranking is the highest of any Warren basketball team that I know of and I have been around for a long time. Its GOOD to see!!
BOTTOM LINE: Coach Maddox has built one of the best basketball programs in Southeastern Ohio. Its good to see coach and his TEAM be rewarded for their EFFORT year after year.
Now can they live up to this ranking??
Keep the WINS coming boys. GO TEAM WARREN WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DIVISION I
1, Cols. Northland (14)   6-1      209
2, Cin. La Salle (7)   8-0      148
3, Cin. Moeller   9-1      126
4, Pickerington Cent. (1)   11-0    109
DIVISION II
1, Day. Dunbar (17)   10-0    200
2, Plain City Jonathan Alder (2)   10-0    123
3, Alliance (2)   10-0      96
4, Vincent Warren   9-1        83
DIVISION III
1, Bloom-Carroll (7)   9-0      182
2, Bedford Chanel (5)   9-0      153
3, Cin. Summit Country Day (6)   8-0      137
4, Leavittsburg Labrae (1)   10-0    114
DIVISION IV
1, Berlin Hiland (20)   10-0    227
2, Ft. Recovery (1)   8-0      167
3, Newark Cath. (3)   8-1      148
4, Cols. Africentric   7-1      115
I have no problem with any of their top 4 picks in any of the divisions. I think Africentric is the number 1 team in D4 with their only lost coming to a very good Bloom-Carroll team but at this point they are where they should be. I do think Portsmouth should have been on the list some where. There local sports writters need to do a better job getting them out there. Didn't this happen to Peebles a few years back? No one showing up to give them a vote? It is only week 1 in the polls and teams will change spots as the season goes on. This is only a gauge and I think these guys do pretty well trying to pick all the teams.

Thanks to the local sports writters for getting the information out there for Southern and South Gallia.

Re: First AP Poll
Warren is a very good team with a great record. They haven't played much besides Waverly, Pmouth and Chilly. I think they deserve it based on record, but please ap get chilly and pmouth in there somewhere!
