Athens, Meigs and Vinton County from what I have seen this year. Wellston has a nice group also. I am sure Green does as well and have heard South Point mentioned. My thought would be that Athens has the best guard overall.

I have to give a congrats to the NY guard. They won 1st place at Athens in Class C and recieved a I and a II at the Buckeye Classic. This with only four girls and being a 2nd year group. Girls, I am so proud of you. Thanks for working so hard and for making this year interesting. There were only four of you and many judges had a hard time recognizing that in a group that small it is easy to pick out mistakes which makes your accomplishments that much greater. I wish we had one more contest together but I think this group I will respect most of all. To come this far in such a short time is all that more admirable. Your hoop dresses/flags have been all the rage this year. Thanks for making this year so special.

Brandy, you will be missed and you have set the bar high for all future groups. Good luck in the future. Collette, you are such a hard worker and I admire that in you. Stephanie, IT IS OKAY TO SMILE!! you look so prety when you do. Stormy (aka Hollywood) you made it and now you can say not only do you twirl a baton, you can twirl a flag and a rifle. Sorry about the concussion. lol

I have to go with Ironton. They haven't competed this year but they really showed what they were made of at the Buckeye Classic on Saturday. They were amazing and received a one from both judges. Congrats to Mrs. Freeman, Ms Freeman and Mrs. Malone you've done a great job with the girls this year all that hard work paid off.

I have seen a lot of very good color guards this year...
I'm sure you think your school is right up there at the top, and that's good... Support them and back them.. It doesn't hurt to encourage and brag on them also.. :12223

I enjoy watching Green's color guard.(maybe it's because I have 2 granddaughters in it.) :122249
They were best overall at Ironton's comprtition, and 2nd in a couple of others.

BTW, why isn't Ironton competing in the area competitions? The area bands usually host and also attend the respective schools that do the same................... just curious....they have a very good band..

South Point has a really good gaurd instructor josh lear. He knows a ton of guard stuff and how to make it work. All four shows this year have great visuals and solos. I love the Percussion feature the most with the bright orange poles ad flags.Keep up the good work Josh and the whole South Point Color Gaurd.

I think several guards have showed great routines at green and I-town contests. I was in RH's guard last year and I have noticed how guards have improved this year.

I have to say I have a fav though, South Point :122249

Rock Hill's guard has been doing very well since they don't have a guard instructor b/c she had to fill in for the band director but they have been doing great after being self taught.

Locally I'd say Athens guard are the best around. They put in a lot of hard hours practicing. But the best I've seen this year was this past Friday. The New Lex guard were awesome. They have the flair the snap and always in time. Their uniforms are awesome and they don't do the dance line crap that so many guards have went to.
