Re: Week 9 Athens at Belpre
After seeing both teams ,I like Athens .
As for the SEOAL it will survive and have atleast 5 or 6 teams .
Jackson
Gallia
Logan
Chillicothe
Portsmouth
Ironton -maybe will stay.
I agree with Gahs4ever,except about Warren Dominating the TVC Ohio ,they would win their share of games but they also would lose some too.

Athens takes the win in this one. After watching them against NY they are not given the credit they should be given. They have some good coaches that are working hard to build a good football program.
Hope teams go home injury free

I believe gpgm6566 may be correct. I got to thinking about this during the day and it did seem to me that they had meet once before on the gridiron. I would like to find some info on this.
As for Athens being in the TVC, I think it is a good thing if the TVC will grow some nads and allow a couple more larger schools to join so the TVC can go to 3 divisions.
I know the folks at Vinton still have a bone stuck in their craw from Warren leaving nearly 25 years ago, but come on, all the folks that were involved in athletics at Vinton back then are no longer there. Lets bury the hatchet, expand the TVC into a better league with some larger schools and 3 divisions. Teams would be better prepared for the post season by playing more games against teams their size instead of playing down, especially the larger schools like Vinton and Meigs.

Mr. B, I know for sure that Belpre played Athens at Athens; I was there. I'm just not sure if the score was 72-0 or 74-0. Several of coach Lilly's starters were injured in the game, and the non starters were almost hiding on the bench, not wanting to go in.

If the defense can tighten up on the run. Belpre's offense with the 3 headed monster named Packard, Tate and Yates can score enough points to earn the victory. Good Luck to the seniors, especially Ashton Packard. It been a privlige to watch him perform the last 6 seasons, jr hi included. He always plays hard, never takes a play off, gives everything he has leaving it all out on the field come Friday nite.

Mister B
I know Belpre also voted against Warren entering the TVC. In fact unless there has been another recent vote only Athens wanted us to join them. It was like 5-1 against and probably will continue to be. Football was the only sport Warren was down in and they are 2-0 vs TVC this year. I think they win MORE than their share of titles in other sports also if they are in the TVC as we come close if not win many in the SEOAL.

Your source is incorrect seeing how we (Belpre) have been trying to get Warren back into the TVC. There never was a vote to allow Warren into the TVC, only a discussion into asking them if they were interested, all within the past year and not enough TVC schools were interested in asking them, Belpre not being one of them. We weren't very keen on Athens coming to the TVC with the current alignment of 2 divisions. Larger schools are the way to go to expand the league, but you need to change it to 3 divisions to get all the schools on board and be supportive of an expansion.
Personally, IF the SEOAL continues to lose members, I think they should explore the idea of adding some new schools, primarly smaller schools, Belpre, Nelsonville, Federal Hocking, Wellston, Alexander etc and splitting the SEOAL into 2 divisions, large and small.
Any way, back to the game...
Best of luck to both teams and lets hope Belpre can get some revenge for gpgm6566 and the loss back in the early 60's to the Bulldogs. Did coach Lilly kick over any toilets in the locker room at halftime?

I guess I missed something here I thought this was a forum about the Athens v Belpre game. Maybe I am just confused, dazed, dazzled or loco but could someone actually post something more about this game since it is closer to friday night?

Re: Week 9 Athens at Belpre
My source is an AD in the TVC who is and was at the meetings. While I was not personally there I have no reason to not believe this person as our relationship has been a good one.
While no official vote may have been done there have been several "what ifs" or "what do you think". Only one school has been in favor and it was none of the original TVC teams.

fighting falcon....
Trust me on this one. Belpre brought a proposal to the table that included Warren. The same old teams that were mad at Warren leaving still won't bury the hatchet and move on, 25 years later. Belpre isn't one of them.
7072....
Belpre wins, if we hold on to the ball and don't self-implode.

Maybe Athens wont be 500 for the first year in the league after all? Sorry to hear about the injury. The kid was a tough back from what I saw.

Re: Week 9 Athens at Belpre
I really don't get the whole "expand the league and divide the TVC into 3 divisions" thing.........
I think that we already have 1 too many TVC leagues.................... It is confusing.................
A lot of people outside our area are already confused about the whole Ohio/Hocking thing with the TVC.... These games don't cross over and aren't treated like league games, so why do we still call them both the TVC (it would only be more muddled by adding a 3rd TVC)
I understand having some league realignment changes, but maybe we should consider changing the name of these leagues, or have some actual crossover games if there is going to be an affiliation.
Food for thought

What injury? My grandson plays on the Athens team and he does not know anything about an injury.
