I remember the vikings playing chili during the regular season when kent and dixon were seniors
I think it would be an alright idea
Although I think this game was big the past couple times because both schools had arguably their best teams ever and they were tourney games
And it didnt hurt that u had names like Hitchens, Givens, and Guthrie on the floor

yea i agree i like this idea a lot...i played on last years team and on the year before...chilli probably doesn't look at us as a rival because they handed it to us..but they lost the two best players that that schools ever had...so the playing field should be a lot more even....

Dont know if you could call it a rivalry when in two games the last two years, against teams as good as VC will put out, the margin of victory is a combined 60 points.

no offense but most every year this would be an ugly victory in Chilli's favor. doesnt sound like an attractive game to either school IMO.

being competitive is a major ingredient in all rivalries and this matchup surely doesn't have that. VC has dominated the TVC Ohio the past several years simply because they are the largest school and have superior talent than the smaller schools in their conference. Chilli has show they can compete at the state level and is vastly superior to vinton county so this topic makes no sense. A better non-league rivalry situation for Vinton County would be Warren. Both schools are basically the same size and have about the same talent level year in and year out.

Warren has enough "rivalries." They are expect to win against in county-rivals like Belpre and Marietta as well as Fort Fre due to its close proximity to the school. (is Fort Frye in Washington County)

It could be a good game though!

Thank you Popcorn Phil for reconizing the young talent at Warren Local. The JV was undefeated for the most part of last season.Beating Zanesville, and giving Chille a great battle.
Looking forward to the upcoming season, but don't underestimate the Warriors they will be in the thick of things, you can count on that. :-D

Right now, even though Vinton County has been the kingpin of the TVC, I don't see a really competitive rivalry between these 2 schools. With that said, though, if I were Vinton County I would get the Cavaliers on the schedule. I think it's always good for a school to have at least a couple of games in which if they don't bring their best game to the gym on that night, they will get beat convincingly.

The TVC can't provide the competition that Chillicothe can provide. It would only help the Vikings, win or lose. Portsmouth benefitted for years by scheduling very good programs, and it did help the Trojans in the tournament.

I think the the Vikings could only help themselves by playing Chillicothe.

i agree too many time did we play to the level of our competition last year.. and being in a weak league hurt us in the long run like against hunnington ross we lost by four but played really bad because of the weak teams the previous games. we were a better team than ross and with 2 or three high prestigeous schools on the schedule it might get vc more recognition and help them better in the long run....

.....but i think vc has alrady put a few hard teams on teh schedule this year..the program is up an comming!...already have a winning tradition and soon will be a district title contender year in an year out

coach kellough is adamant about adding the best teams he can to his non-conference schedule to best prepare his team for tourney play. VC had the best teams in their history the last couple years (record wise) and they were beat very badly by Chilli. its just not a competitive matchup. Both teams should just avoid each other and face one another when forced to in the tourney.
