After sitting down today and watching both teams in 4 games a peice. West is a completely different team from a year ago. I'll take West by 2-3 scores. I say it's close early, but in the end those 3 and 4 yard runs turn into 9-10 yard runs. This west team is so strong and athletic. This is a complete team. The weightroom did wonders for this team.

Ill tell you one thing if the Burg comes out spreads the field and throws the ball it could be a long night for West. Never the less this game I think will come down to the last minute of play to determine a winner.

Actually, Im sure Ironton set the national record, when they beat Wheelersburg 119-0 a few years ago. I dont think West could score 280 in a game.

I have to agree with Black 76 on this thread. The Burg is a little testy that everyone is not bowing down to them in SOC. Nice to see the SOC so competitive this year. Up until a couple of years a go, that is something that has been sorely missed.

I just checked on Weather.com and they are showing a 40% chance of rain for next Friday and that could be a big factor in this game. Let's hope the rain holds off until after the game.

Good luck to both squads and let's hope it's an injury free game so both teams can go into the postseason at 100%.

I hope it doesn't rain because most of the Burg fans will drown

Pretty ridiculous post, wasn't it. Just like all the West people predicting a blowout. Everyone from Wests talks about no one from the Burg giving their team any repect, well it's the same on this end. The Burg is 9-0 and have played some darn good teams, but yet you all are predicting a blowout so where's the respect for the Burg. Obvisouly West has a very good team and will be the toughest team the Burg has faced since Ironton in week 1 and any true Burg fan will tell you that.

The people you see on here predicting a huge Pirate victory probably aren't even from the Burg. If West does beat the Burg, blowout or close game, I will be one of the first to get on here and congratulate them, but will the same happen if the Pirates win or will it be just like when they beat Ironton and Minford where people ran their mouths all week about blowing the Pirates out and then disappeared after the Burg won. The Pirates are a very solid ball club and I just can't anyone hanging 35+ points on that defense, but you just never know and that's why they play the game.

I have seen Minford play the burg at the burg and West play Minford at Minford.
Minford did give that game away with 5 turnovers and "no" not caused by the burgs defense. How many players have you ever seen fumble the ball with no one hitting them? Minford fumbled inside the 20 twice and threw an INT inside the 20. QB also had a wide open WR in the in zone and threw the ball at his feet because he was in between run it or throw it so he short armed the pass. Minford out gained the burg in total offense. Minford was dominated by west running the ball. Minford could not stop their RB or QB from running inside or outside, I was impressed how strong they were by carrying defenders on their backs. West also hits the hole fast and hard. Too many weapens for burg in this one. I know burgs qb is young and doesn't throw often nor deep. I see him getting rattled in this game and being that its at West it could get ugly if composer is lost early. West wins and claims the SOC II.

Not that it really matters come Friday night, but in the past 10 years, West has scored 79 points against the pirates with only 2 wins, with the Burg scoring 329 points and 8 wins. All of the same talk happened in 2005 when both West and Burg had great teams, much like this year, and West traveled up to the Burg, played in about two inches of mud, and won the SOC II trophy in a great game that was seen by all of Scioto County. It is what High School football is all about and what the players, coaches, fans live for. This is a huge game, by two big, strong, fast, well coached teams, just like it was in 2005 and the best team come Friday night will walk away with the Trophy and bragging rights. On a personal note, and in my personal opinion, along with great Burg players and a great big strong line, #13, ran all over West in 2005 to win the SOC II 14-7, and I get the pleasure of watching another #13 do it again come Friday night, with more great Burg players, a little smaller line, but quick as all get out, and hopefully come home injury free with his teammates, fans, coaches and place that Gold Football right next to the rest in the case!

I can guarantee both West and Burg will leave it all on the field come Friday night as they did in 2005 as good teams, as great athletes know no different!

Good luck to all Senior players from both teams, have watched most of these young men since pee-wee suit up against each other as either a Rough Rider or a Sider.

What Side? The WEST SIDE BABY!!!!! The game will be a very great game to watch but, the West running game is just incredible! Dale Swords is like getting run over by a truck......West will win by probably 2 touchdowns but, they'll sink the Pirate's ship. These are the best Senators I've seen since Barack Obama!

I have played both teams and this is what I have to say:

West has a fast attacking defense with strond DT and smart LB, who work together and gang tackle as the are supposed to. The offense is a pulverizer who pounds at the middle for hours and refuses to go down by one person on one hit and have receivers who will catch the ball.

Wheelersburg also has a fast, smart defense but doesn't penetrate at times as the senators. Their offense is more rollout side if I beat you you pay if not I'll sail it over your head to the receiver type game.
