Game of Week #3 West vs. #2 Wheelersburg SOC Championship

Someone had a radio close to me. Roger said "the score at the end of 1 quarter, is Wheelersburg 7 and West nothing".

Roger did graduate from West though. In case you didn't know.

Yeah, that was very obvious. He is supposed to be unbiased but he has a really hard time in doing so when he broadcasts Wests games. I noticed the same thing on another of Wests games I listened to on the radio broadcast by Roger Gray. He constantly mentioned Wests players both present and past and barely mentioned the names of the other kids.

Come on Roger. You're better then that. You bet your a$$ Snuffy wouldn't do that.

I have to agree, after listening to the West-Valley game, and then tonight Roger is VERY biased on the radio. I understand that he graduated from West, but at least pretend you arent pulling for one team.

I can't believe nobody has said anything about the field, it looked GREAT, the paint job looked good, does the boosters or school get it ready? Again two thumbs up on the field condition from this Pirate fan.

he probably meant that we had a defensive breakdown, which we did. The DE got sucked in on dive plays. Coach is a fine man, it must have came out wrong.

Get real buddy. I am a huge die hard Burg fan and I'll be the first to say that they didn't get lucky. They controled the LOS and held out RB's in check all night long except for one long TD run. Their defense and offense was top notch. West is the best team I saw the Pirates play all year and that includes Ironton.

I am also hoping for a rematch. I think both teams are very powerful. I will forever be proud of the Burg players. I will never "shut up" about them. I am not one of the people who come onto this site and make outrageous statements, either for or against anybody.

I am also not a Wheelersburg parent, but like you I hope the Burg kids grow up with class. You might want to read what you wrote about that. A well placed comma would have changed it to what I think you really meant to say.

I am a Wheelersburg fan. I am also fans of other schools. I am very close to kids who play for East, Minford and Valley.

I know all these teams will go as far as their talent will take them. Hopefully, some of our local teams will be contenders for the state titles. Like most of the fans, if my preferred team doesn't make I will root for the rest of them. And I will go watch them play.

I think you could use a lesson in good sportsmanship, too.

Triplett has done a very good job this year. I am a burg grad and very proud of it. When you bash the parents of Burg players, you show exactly how much class you lack. Burg posters have congratulated the west players and team. I am going to guess you are a child because the respected west posters wouldn't get on here and post this crap. I guess winning with class is something you have not heard or experienced before. West had the best team and deserved the soc title this year. The west players that were interviewed were very respectful of the burg team and that should be commended as they have not had alot of success against them in their high school careers. Do you really think that if they meet in the playoffs, that a west win will quiet the burg fans? If you do think that, then you obviously don't watch much local high school sports. Burg fans will always follow and support their team no matter what the record. Triplett could have chosen his words better in his interview. He basically said that wheelersburg should not have scored and west should have had multiple more td's. Good luck to west in the palyoffs and hopefully they can meet up again on a neutral field.

Next matchup wont be so pretty for the siders. C. Woodward knows now to get that friggin behemoth of a center on the NG position and make the siders earn their yards from play one! Zack Frowine did a great job of busting the center of the West Oline from about the mid to late 3rd qtr on. Give me some stats on that great running attack when he was in. I would add another ANTI - COUNTER kid in the defensive middle to contain Pendleton. Just a shame. Burg didnt adjust quick enuff to that ground game. We have seen that with Woodward for his tenure at Burg as def. coord. but nobody at Burg believes in a Dline that is huge and semi mobile. heck, I have watched tapes of West all yr and knew we needed bigger Dlineman, what does it take to make the grade on TAPE? West oline is very explosive, they get to the linebackers all game and if you dont have frickin dlineman that can cause the oline to take them on 2 at a time, you will lose the counter every time! I hate losing like this. We had them and let them get away. Oh well, great game by the SIDERS! Deserve it in everyway. Pendleton is a hoss. he got hit SQUARLEY on that last TD run and just shook him off at the line of scrimmage.

Great game by the Senators. They are the new king of the mountain, at least for this year.

I talked to someone who was at the game and they say West did dominate, but still yet Burg had there chances right down to the last few minutes. He also said he couldn't figure out why Burg deferred to the second half and come out and run 3 straight dive plays and then have to give the ball right back to west, who then marches down the field to score.

West fans might want to not wish for a Burg-west rematch. If they remember, back in 2002, Ptown beat the senators in the regular season and then west came back and beat ptown in the playoffs.


Burg needs to regroup and come out and start the second season. Looks like it could be Minford coming back to the Burg for a rematch.

Great game tonight. West was just the better team tonight, they got it done when they had to. Both teams had mistakes and played through them. It wasn't the conditions either team had hoped for, maybe we'll see a rematch.

maniac, you have problems. All year from Portsmouth, to South Point, to Minford, to Burg you have critiqued how they were gonna beat West, and every time you are wrong. West outgained Burg big time. We never ran half our offense after we got the lead and just did what we had to do. Coach new you couldn't go the length of the field on our D, so he stayed complacent. Besides the one run, West shut Burg down. I agree with General, on a dry field this is a 2-3 TD game. Burg has a nice team, but West is way too physical for them.
