BLAH!!!! BLAH!!!!!! Belpre flat out beat Marietta. Belpre guards handled the pressure and the bigs put up nice offensive numbers. All I heard is that Grosel, Williams and Lennington was to tough and Belpre couldn't stop them. Belpre had Nestor, Hoffman,Ullman, Pittenger, Leasure and Theriault and they all played very well. So I don't want to hear about the refs, Belpre had players in foul trouble too. Both teams showed alot of hustle. Nice win for Coach Thornhill and the Eagles.........

LET'S GO EAGLES!!!!!!

Belpre caught Marietta on the 1 night out of 10 that they could beat them. I'm not taking any credit away from Belpre, they played a solid ballgame, but I just don't agree with the statement that Belpre is a better team.

I give all the credit in the world to Belpre and JT. He's doing a great job as I thought he would. He's a class act and a great guy. The refereeing was terrible though, I'm not saying that won/lost the game at all. Marietta needed to hit their free throws and make open shots.

I still believe that Marietta still has a few good players. I also believe Belpre is improving as the year goes on. I think Marietta changing leagues hasn't helped their cause. I saw a group of boys I feel I have watched grow up let themselves down. Grosel, Lennington, and Williams do have the ability to play well. Justin Futrell is also an asset to the struggeling Tiger squad. I saw open shots missed on several occassions. They were rushed and off balance. I heard alot of crowd noise that may sound positive coming from the individual, but is no help at all. In a nut shell. Marietta lost this game because they played like a bunch of individuals. Turnovers and alot of undisciplined play. Be

Belpre worked the ball, had balanced scoring, and ran their offense. In my opinion they worked hard to takeadvantage of Marietta' s lack of confidence. Secrest can coach. Looks like he has his work cut out for him.

So Belpre won't beat any good teams? Great win for Jordan and the Eagles. Congrats! Guess Marietta aint a very good team. Either way, good night, bad night, the tigers got their tail between their legs headin back up Route 7  . Nice win for the Hocking Division. Looks like that team is coming together and buying into their coaches.

Belpre followers, I apologize for some peoples comments on Marietta's behalf... They also said Marietta had bad reffing in all 3 Warren losses last year... It's the best excuse that you can find in southern Ohio basketball...and most used.

Marietta came out flat no doubt about it, but the RESULT is the RESULT! The better team comes prepared and ready to play, that comes down to the teams mental toughness and coaching... It was obvious that Marietta didn't have it.

Dennis, listen man I love some of your stuff on here it's funny, but if you and dspy have a problem, handle that in pm's. It's people that do things like this that have hurt this website... Plus your comments are also brainless except for when Marietta comes under fire.

Are you referring to Marietta crowd noise or Belpre crowd noise?

Yeah the fact that even the coaches of Marietta and Warren fans that I've talked to have agreed with the fact that the referees were terrible in the two regular season games last year. The tournament game was well refereed and one of the best basketball games i've ever seen. If you read what I put I gave Belpre all the credit for the win and playing/coaching the better game. Marietta had no lack of confidence, it was an over confidence if anything. I know I'm right on that because I'm great friends with all of the players and they said the same. And 32, 16, 6 who was that individual?

The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Miami Heat once last year. Guess they aint a very good team.

Oklahoma State lost to Iowa State. I guess they aint as good as Iowa State.

Green Bay lost to Kansas City. I guess they aint a good team.

Kentucky lost to Indiana. I guess they aint a national championship contender this year.

Aint there a trend here?

Marietta is an average team, not a very good team. They have 2 scorers (at times), and as long as you limit their scoring chances, then you're going to have a great chance to win. Until they can get someone else to step up and score consistently then they will continue to struggle.

Ohio, sorry I'm not such a high ranking basketball expert as you are, I'm just simply noting the fact that Marietta followers use that excuse very often, and hey some times I agree.
And as I said between the players/coaches (all of which you seem to be in touch with) they were way to confident as I'm afraid their school size and strength of schedule allows.
