WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens
Re: WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens
Yes, we play schools like South Gallia, Eastern, and Southern. You know why? They're Wahama's size. Woah, what a far fetched logic. So, if playing same size schools makes Wahama have a weak schedule, so be it.
And comparing Meigs and Wahama is useless because the two are different sizes, Meigs is twice the size of Wahama. (And don't say classificiation sizes don't matter or otherwise, there wouldn't be classification sizes in the first place). You can use that same logic with college, too. "Mount Union has a better team than Florida, they have a better record." School size makes a huge difference, I would like to see Wahama's team if they had 3 times more boys to choose from.
Wahama losing to Athens 20-0 can definitely be considered a moral victory. A great majority of AAA schools in WV would absolutely destroy Wahama.
"hopefully this game will show the West Virginians the differece between 8-2 in Ohio (like meigs, who beat athens) and 7-2 in Wv (like wahama who got shutout by athens) Go TVC ohio!"
Again, SE Ohio and WV are almost exactly the same in terms of football, if same size schools play each other. SE Ohio football is more like NW West Virginia. I admit that PA, VA, football is superior to WV football. The rest of Ohio to SE Ohio is like TX to North Dakota football.
Sorry for being so negative. Athens beat us, yes they did, not taking that away from them. Go ahead, deny all what I said.

Re: WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens
I believe Wahama is suffering from an identity crisis. You are a small school who wants to act like a big school. If Wahama fans would not run there mouth everytime they have a decent year, (lately just about every year, I commend you for that) and think they could jump on some of these bigger schools and win: every thing would be o.k.
Enjoy your success and focus on getting your program to the next level (deeper in the playoffs). Probably getting away from a creampuff schedule would accomplish that. WV football does not even compare to southeast ohio football. Over the past seven or so years Wahama has played three of the worst D6 programs from SE Ohio every year. (SG made the playoffs a few times as was alluded to earlier in this forum.
When you beat a storied D6 program like Trimble on a consistent basis rather than a one time upset. you can consider yourself worthy to be in the same conversation as Trimble.
Wahma struggled with 0-10 Buckeye Trail you only beat them by one. This Buckeye Trail team lost to Frontier and Ft. Frye from our area. Everytime, Wahama has a decent year they think they can beat all of these bigger schools. that my friend is the definition of insanity (doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result). wahama will always get beat by the bigger schools accept it.
WV football is not like even SE Ohio Football. Parkersbrug South is currently 6-2. Any Idea who their two losses were to. 4-6 warren Local and 4-6 Marietta. South is bigger than Warren Local and probably about the same size as Marietta. Marietta blew them out by the way, wasn't even close.
Do not ever say WV football is like southeast ohio football. I could give you many examples right along the river just like the above.
Here's One:
Wheeling Central Catholic 2008
9/1 H Catholic Central (OH) (3-7) [6:23] W 33-0
9/5 H John Adams (OH) (8-2) [1:1] W 21-0
9/12 A Shadyside (OH) (8-2) [6:23] L 14-22
9/19 H Morgan (OH) (1-9) [3:11] W 43-13
9/26 H John F Kennedy (OH) (3-7) [6:21] W 26-17
10/3 H Oliver (PA) (0-2) W 34-13
10/11 H Schenley (PA) (0-2) W 42-26
10/17 A Steubenville (OH) (10-0) [4:13] L 22-47
10/24 H Brashear (PA) (8-1) W 29-14
10/31 A Linsly (5-4) [6:0] *
Wheeling Central the one the whole state is shooting for in single A can not compete with D5 stuebenville and lost to D6 Shadyside.
there are still many more but no sense in beating a dead horse.
Just remeber WV football is not the same.

Re: WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens
Just a note Wahama has played Meiges this decade(sorry I don't know the year),and lost I beleive Meigs was 3-7 or 6-4 that year. This was supposed to be a home and home series but Wahama cancled the 2nd year. Not to take away from Wahama's past accomplishments, they are good WV small school program.Yes Wahama does make the playoffs most years, but Ohio schools have almost as many schools in a region as WV school in an entire class.IMO winning a State championship is comparable to winning an Ohio regional championship,in this reguard not much different from Trimble who to my knowledge also does not have.

Looks like Wheeling Central also has wins over DI John Adams and DIII Morgan. Also according to your post Stuebeville is DIV

You also have to remember, WV takes the top 16 teams in to the playoffs. There is 49 schools in Class A in the State of West Virginia with 20 of the schools having under 150 students. That is total enrollment for grades 9-11 for the schools. WV does not seperate the count between boys and girls.

Say waht you want about Wahama. At least they have attepted to play us......
It doesn't matter how you count kids or how many schools are in the state. WV only has a population of around a million in the whole state. How many schools did you want them to have?
Bottom Line......what will it take to get SG and Trimble on the field against each other?
Just my thoughts guys
I never said anything about Wahama and I was just stating how their playoffs work and the chances that they have to make it. I dont really care how many schools they have. A better question is, how many gooseheads have you had today?
I guess all it will take is the two schools to agree to it, one of them get on a bus, go to the other school, both get on the field and play. I am done with the SG and Trimble talk. Its not gonna happen so go release the hounds and be a G-Town lot lizard or whatever you are. I dont know why you ask me when its gonna happen, I cant set it up.

Re: WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens
Not having a tough schedule? The year we beat Trimble and the year we lost to Trimble, we had one of the top 5 toughest schedules in A in all of WV. And you say when we beat Trimble, it was an upset. We have only played them twice in 15+ years. So, how can you say it was an upset? (And the second game against Trimble could've been a different story if their starting qb didn't get hurt at the end of the 1st half). And you mention not having deep playoff runs. I consider two final fours and two elite eights in the past 7 years deep playoff runs.
That same year we lost to Trimble, we beat Federal Hocking, who went 9-1 that year. We were their only loss. Fed Hock even beat Trimble that year. (Sad to say, Wahama's record was 4-6 that year, but that team would still beat Wahama's team today.)
And Shadyside and Steubenville are definitely not SE Ohio. If you think a school an Ohio school an hour south of Pittsburgh is considered SE Ohio, you have geography issues. And for the scores, you could toss those around back and forth, with us disproving each other on which state has more wins.

Then dont think for one minute Wahama could hang with a team like Meigs...which i have heard many Wahama Mama's believe they could do

top 5 in A in all of Wv.....arent there like 6 teams in that class...cant be too many since wahama makes it to the playoff all the time haha...bluetraveler is right, a title in Wv is like winning a first round playoff in OHIO
Re: WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens
Yeah, they are 40 schools in A in WV. I know it's not the biggest, but making the playoffs is still an accomplishment.
"a title in Wv is like winning a first round playoff in OHIO"
Then that means Wahama and pretty much all of SE Ohio have the same amount of titles: 0.
ooohh, ouch.

truth hurts

4.0 wasnt born yesterday...wahama isnt as good as meigs and would go winless in the TVC Ohio...well...they might have a shot with belpre...
but i think a good game to watch would be Wahama vs. Meigs JV.

I hate to bust you bubble there Flicker but...
In 2006 FH was 9-1 with their only regular season loss coming at the hands of Caldwell. FH beat the White Falcons (7-2) that year 14-7 at Wahama. Trimble did not play Wahama in 2006.
In 2005 FH was 7-3 with losses to Caldwell, Wahama (also 14-7) and Waterford. Wahama did play Trimble in 2005 and lost 34-19.
I don't dispute that Wahama has a good tradition and they have had some quality seasons, just helping you get your facts straight...

or possibly athens JV they have the same record as wahama ... just to make it fairer.... and yes to the person burning the TVC/WV teams for having 0 wins, the farther southeast in ohio you go, the crappier football gets, with exceptions like logan. the TVC is one of the weaker conferences in ohio, and from what i've seen, wahama might beat vinton county and alexander .... and maybe belpre .... im not going to deny wahama has had good years in the past but WV football in general does not compare to Ohio football
Re: WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens
Actually, SE Ohio does have a few State titles in football. Ironton, Wheelersburg and Nelsonville YOrk all have one. I think Ironton has 2. Yeah, I know they were quite a while ago, but they still have them.
Re: WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens
Sorry for getting the games wrong, I stand corrected.
As for going winless in the TVC, I seriously doubt it. Would we win it? No, I'm not going to pretend we would, but I think we could compete.
But again, as I keep on pointing out, schools in the TVC are twice the size of Wahama. Wahama has 304 students 9-12, while Meigs has 653 9-12 so we obviously wouldn't join the TVC.

Wahama was invited a few times to join the TVC Hocking division...but declinded...they must like beating the JV/Middle school level teams in Wv
Re: WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens
4.0 just how many of those first round playoff games in Ohio has Athens ever won. Ohhhh, ouuuuuch, that has to hurt.
