its not the coaching staff at all we have some of the best coach's in southern ohio.... but bringing up terry tackett wouldnt be a bad thing he's a great coach but i think he like's where he is at so i doubt he moves up..... but with piketon returning 9-11 starters on defense will help yes i know were losing may's,reed, and pate but with southworth most likely drop back to lb like he has been and osburn at de its just like bringing back 9 starters

I agree ligit because if Southwourth moves to LB and have Osborn at DE then we should have a very very good front 8. Hey ligit, answer this if you can tell me, who will probably be our DT's :?:

Yeah I forgot about Vanhoy returning and Crawford is a beast of a Soph so he will probably be very dominant next year on varsity.Gillie is good to and Dunn could probably pull of the switch nicely.

Our DE's should be very good no matter if Southwourth switches to LB because there are several kids, like Varney and Osburn, who will be back and there will be some good DE's moving up next year. Will be a punishing D all-around.

Have you not noticed that ANY thread involving Piketon soon leads to a discussion merely about Piketon?

Piketon should win this one, then complain and whine about the could have would have scenenarios of the first 4 games of the year.

And how they are loaded again for next year, they will win the league next year, make a deep playoff run, blah, blah, blah. It is rather funny reading these threads on a weekly basis. Heard all year long how they had 9 or 10 starters back for this season on defense, didn't work out too well now, but we're supposed to believe it's going to work out better next year. Heard all year long, especially during the offseason, how dominant they were and that this was their year. Didn't work out too well. But, alas, we get to hear it all again this offseason. Wake me up when Piketon actually does something more impressive than going 7-3 or 6-4 and finishing in the middle of the pack within the league race.

"(if ray lewis say's to his coach there i see a gap between c gap when they throw the ball and ask to stunt to that gap and let him that brings trust between the coach and player)"

Did you really just use an NFL player as an example for any garbage that you have spewed on here? I would imagine there is probably a large hole that you refer to as c gap when they throw, more often than not the TE is releasing down field so C gap would extend from the tackle to the out of bounds line. That's funny. I would hope Coach Gullion has gotten word of this nonsense on here and dealt with it.

"and every year is piketon's yr if we wont it"

You meant 'want' right? So are you saying your team didn't 'want' it this year? And they haven't 'wanted' it since, what, 1997? You are doing such a huge disservice to your team and coaches on here. But I doubt that you will see that. Nor do I really care. I'm just going to sit back, drink my coffee and continue to get a kick out of the crap that you and your teammates throw on this board. Please keep it up. Gives me something to laugh about.

Fellas, Keep in mind who is doing the majority of the discussing in here. It sounds like high school kids to me. No offense intended, but discussions amongst kids is going to be unbalanced and biased. As players, shouldn't they be excited as they look at the potential for the upcoming years? I would expect optimism from kids at any school.

As a long-time fan of the Red Streaks, I've learned not to get too overabsorbed in the discussions about the future. I know enough about sports to know that there is rarely, if ever, a sure thing. I, like many others, had high hopes for the Streaks coming into this year. I have my opinions about what went wrong, but the reality is that they are 5-4 going into the Huntington game, not 9-0. They had a chance to get a share of the league title, but lost to a superior team. They need to get a win this week, evaluate what has gone wrong this season, make any necessary coaching changes, work hard in the off-season, and then see what next year has in store.

Now, if the Red Streaks want to play hard this week, I think they can beat Huntington by 4 touchdowns.

I am a Piketon fan but I get so sick and tired of listening to the players TALK about how good they are supposed to be. hogfarmer is absolutely correct, every year we hear about how good Piketon is going to be and they have all these players returning and are going to make it to the play offs and win the league and all this. And then by week 10 they are out of the race completely and no shot for the title.

Why can't the kids just suck it up and PLAY!

I am 100% in favor of the coaches. Coaches can't tackle, throw, and run, they must rely on the players. And until the players and some parents realize that its not the coaches but the players attitudes, then it will never change!

And I dont know how many times I've heard of the junior high programs going undefeated and winning the leage and then not doing anythign in highschool. People might say its because of the coaches, but I feel that it is because the opposition continues to get better and trains to be better than they were and Piketon players simply want to TALK about how they were undefeated and svc champs in jr. high. No one remembers you for what you did then but what you do NOW.

I wish Piketon the best of luck but I hope that the future understand that you must play with the upmost passion and champion mentality that is takes to be champions, once you do that and you will get better and win those championship that you always talk about.

PIKETON should dominate this game and finish the season 6-4. HUNTINGTON don't got a chance lol.

"HUNTINGTON don't got a chance "

Neither does any English teacher at Piketon High School.

Once again, Jr. High is great for the kids and it gives fans something to "hope" for but thats all it does. And you can crap in one hand and hope in the other and see which one fills up faster.

If you look at the past few years, the jr programs are typically top notch at Piketon. Is that the coaches?? Maybe, but I think its that the players are just simply better than the opposition at that point. When they get to highschool, they haven't worked nearly as hard as the other teams and the players that weren't as good in Jr. High, now are better than the players from Piketon and it is showing in high school. The reason for this is, and this is just my opinion, but the kids from Piketon don't think they have to work as hard because they were good in Jr. high. They just think they can sit back and be as good as they were and they have found out to get a rude awakening.

And it seems as though this happens in other sports as well.
Hopefully they will learn to not make excuses about coaches and just listen to what the coaches say and do what they say to the best of their ability. If they do that, they will find themselves improving from year to year and they High School programs will improve.
