I would say that River Valley fans are among the most loyal in the area.

A good number of them are friends of mine, and they have stayed behind their Raiders through thick and thin.

The real test of the fans is who has at least a decent following in the bad years. The numbers drop off with every team. It is easy to be a fanatical follower on the good years. But to go to every game on an 0-10 season, that is a true fan. And nobody packs the stands on those years.

On a year like this for Minford, Wheelersburg and West, of course they pack the stands.

I remember in 2000, Minford defeated Wheelersburg at Wheelersburg. The stands for Minford was barely half full until half time. Once people heard on the radio they were actually winning, the stands became packed by the end of the game. And it is not just Minford of course. That was just so dramatic that year. But people want to see a win not necessarily support the team.

You can bet its not the Gallia Academy fans. Doesn't make a difference wether were undefeated or lost every game,you could hear a pin drop.
