That was the best 8 dollars i have spent in a long time.
Good to see some of the schools travel to Ironton.
Also good to see Trojan Dave and Hoot.
I would like to give some props to Walnut Ridges Cheerleaders, they were Great.
I will be ready for another night of hoops tonight.
Thanks to all of those who made this work.

Enjoyed the basketball very much......hard to believe that Largo, defending Maryland 3A State Champions, blew the game after leading 48-34 in the final frame......the Scots scored at least 35 points in the 4th quarter after scoring only 34 the first 3 periods. Jeremy Qualls of WR had a very good game, including some clutch which sparked the comeback.
Chesapeake played solid basketball in the second half, not allowing Huntington to run as much, and the Panthers eventually pulled away. Coach Ryan Davis did an outstanding job getting the most out of this team, which was very undersized against an athletic, taller Highlander team.
Ironton jumped on Russell early and never let up.........I don't think I've ever seen as many 3 point attempts by one team as the Red Devils put up............Tim Kochendorfer and Dustin Green both hit 2 three pointers early and that was the game.
Mountain State and Campbell Memorial put on an entertaining first half before I left........it seemed like the Cottrill kid on MS didn't miss a 3 pointer in the first half......I think he had 5 total by halftime........CM hung in there, though, but MS had too much firepower for the Red Devils..........
Some very good basketball, and I got to talk to Amen Corner and Rhiannon, two of Ironton's most loyal fans.........I'll see them again on Jan.9th, when the temperature at the Conley Center will probably be 100F.............

Cottrill from MSA was by far the best player on the floor last night. Huggins is getting a great one . All the games were entertaining, Largo either lost a LOT from last year or Maryland B'ball is pretty weak. If Huntington had the 'peaks guards they would be unstoppable. Humphreys was impressive. Ironton is going to be HARD to beat. Better defense from the Tigers than I have seen in the last couple of years. Heading out in a couple of hours to catch day 2 of a great classic. Good luck to the locals. Looks like the Ironton-Brookhaven game will be a thriller.

just a great basketball exhibition!! went for most of tues night does anybody agree this classic would be better served by being held on a friday saturday setup? i think it would help with attendance though it was good even with the weather being bad.
Re: THE IRONTON CLASSIC DECEMBER 22-23, 2008
only problem with friday and saturday, a lot of the teams that came, and fans , probably would have been playing regular season on them nights.
or even other tournaments going on .
