Until recently, I never knew that Fort Frye had any girls running. Then I heard about Palowski qualified for State. I must have been too wrapped up in my Tornes vs. Skidmore battle.

I was sorry to hear that Emily didn't run well on Saturday. I wish her the best of luck this spring.

And I think Emily still ran good at State. She might of not ran as good as last year, but she still placed 35th. Which means she beat over 100 other runners. I think 35th is a very respectful place. Not very many girls can say they made it to State 4 times in cross country and been on the podium twice.

Good or well is a matter of perception. And I'm glad you called me on it. I sounded negative, but I am really proud of what Skidmore achieved on Saturday.

Sorry about the TVC mistake. Were they ever in the TVC? Which conference are they in?

For the past couple years the meigs 4x2, and also the 4x1 teams have been pretty good. I think with a little work over the winter will help them alot. They have some great potential this coming year.

I can't wait to see the Belpre girls 4x100 and 4x200 teams. Calle Logston will score Belpre a lot of points. I think she'll be the 100 and 200 meter champion in 09.

I think Alexander girls will win the 4x800. They return everyone off last years runner up team. I was surprised to see that only Waterford, Vinton County, and Belpre had girls graduate off their 4x800 teams.

I see FH's Chanda Cuckler winning the 300m hurdle and look for her and teammate Iris Butcher to challenge each other for the 100m hurdle title.

I think Eastern's Alyssa Newland will break into the top 3 of the 1600. The 1600m match between Skidmore and Dunfee will be decided with winter training, but Skidmore has the advantage having done XC over volleyball.

Ryan Yates for 110m hurdle champion and Kevin Thompson in the top 3 of the 800.

I don't know for sure, but has Emily Dunfee EVER beat Emily Skidmore in any running event?

I don't think so. I still think that Skidmore will win. Skidmore beat Dunfee by 13 seconds last year,
which can be a substantial margin to make up in one year.

But I don't like to give the trophies away before they are earned.

I doubt that either of these ladies would want a trophy they did not earn..

The Alexander Spartans head to Wildcat country for a big early season basketball match-up. Should be a great game, with some of the area's FINEST athletes competing.

GO SPARTANS!!!!!

Look for Wellston Boys to be in the thick of things in the 4x1--4x2 this season

Brian Huff VC 93-97 has the most all time TVC points! for mens Track, i would say. He had 110 hurdles, high Jump, Long jump, and 300 hurdles. Went to the state in three out of four several times. Never lost in the TVC that i can remember! :122246

I am in the process of getting the results from all of the TVC track meets. Hopefully I will have a bit more time over Christmas break. I will be sure to post when I have it completed. I currently have most of the late 80's through 2000. Stay tuned...
