DOES NOTRE DAME HAVE ENOUGH HEART?
I would like to simply pose a question. Everyone has heard about Pride and Desire, but does ND really have the heart to live up to those two words when they play East? Or do you think they will fold playing against East? Let's hear some opinions.

Re: Does Notre Dame have what it takes?
fair question . the anwser last year was a resounding "yes" ND played well enough to win the game. East scores 1st, late 3rd early 4th quarter on a bomb ---now it was great play but if they run that 10 times I bet he doesn't normally complete it 2-3 times. Bigger than that was ND having a TD called back on a hold in the 3rd quarter. They take the lead the game changes . But spilt milk is already spilt. East made the plays to win the game.
This year ND is much much younger. There is an experience factor that was'nt there last year. I hope IF they go down they down swingin'. Let it all hang out, throw in a trick play or 2 or 3 . (not a half- back pass on 3 and 18 ) Run a reverse early in the game to take advantage of East's over aggressiveness. (have not seen one in 2 years ) . But I don't want to see any fold job either. Even if east gets up 14-0 or 21-0 it's HS football, never ever over til the last second ticks off. Best of luck to the young men from ND . Need a big game from someone East won't be keying on. MD

Re: Does Notre Dame have what it takes?
Well said MD. I think that Notre Dame does have the heart. I thnk the kids on this year's team have shown that they won't give up when the game gets tough. I think the key is going to be their aggressiveness. They have to come out with a ton of intensity. I think they will be ready to play. As far as trick plays, I don't know, but unexpected calls like passing on 2nd and short would help keep the defense off-balance. Getting off to a good start is so important to the team's confidence I think. The execution must be there as well. It is up to the coaches and kids, but the fans need to be there to support the team in this game more than any other this year.

I agree with you on most of your statement; especially never ever over till the last second ticks off! I think both teams; for the most part gear up and play their best games every year in this game! In all reality; you can throw the records out the door, cause they don't really matter! It's about Pride & Tradition and the bragging rights for a year! You can have all of your other big games in the area throughout the season! I would choose this game over any of them every time!
Here is to a clean, injury free game to both teams and for the yearly renewal of a very good rivalry! Good Luck to both teams! But, wishing East the better luck of the two!

MD can u be more specific on play U referred to as bomb?I can barely remeber plays from last week let alone last year.Am I correct in interpreting that remark meaning East scored all TD's via one certain play each time? Also have U seen East play this year?

Re: DOES NOTRE DAME HAVE ENOUGH HEART?
Posted this on the wrong thread -- time to go to bed!
This is a team that lost 13 seniors and two transfers that were very good. They have 4 seniors and 5 juniors --playing the last few games with only 4 juniors. They will at worst have the exact same regular season as their loaded team from a year ago. Do they have heart --- 100% absolutely You Betcha!. A great group of kids!
This team has beat all of my expectations and then some. It feels awesome to be playing in this type of game and I truly believe we are very, very, capable of winning this game. We are beat up but so is everyone else so it will be a tough game against a tough and good team ---- but they are defintely beatable.
Best of luck to both teams. May this game be played hard but with the utmost sportsmanship and may it be supported by the fans of both sides with the same respect.
As for the old thread being gone ---- it should have been removed very early.
Anyone with absolutely any common sense and respect for both teams players and communities alike know what I mean.
peace out!

Re: DOES NOTRE DAME HAVE ENOUGH HEART?
east 05-08 ---last years game was scoreless until late 3rd quarter , maybe even early 4th . This game was a defensive battle, pretty obvious after half time whichever team scored 1st would hold a huge advantage. ND scores a TD , called back on a hold. East , which I don't think I need to tell you , was about a 90% running team last year, did'nt exactly throw it well at all, they scored on a looong rainbow pass, streak pattern. So it was'nt exactly their bread and butter that put them ahead.
I think East did score again late 4th quarter after ND was forced to go for it on 4th down and failed. The game was either 6 or 7-0 until 1-2 min left in the game. I don't even remember the final score 14-0 ? 12-0 ? And no I have not seen east this year.

Thank You. U might want to brush up an this year's play, the running game is only a part of our offensive weapons.

The pass play in which East scored on if I remember right was a pass to Hoover with him in motion from the wing back down the sideline.

That is correct!

That was one heck of a game last year! We did open the scoring up with something that was not normal for our offense! But, Hoover did have over 200 yards rushing in that game as well! The Delabar kid gave our offense some fits when trying to run the 88 Super Power his way last year! He had a monster game!
The final score of the game was 14-0. The East you will see this year looks nothing... I mean nothing... like it did last year offensively or defensively! Not to take anything away from Coach Davis or anything; I think he is one of the best defensive coaches that I have ever seen! But, Coach Hall has a very, very stingy defense as well!
Re: DOES NOTRE DAME HAVE ENOUGH HEART?
I think Notre Dame does have enough heart and will know where to find it when EAST punches a hole through there chest!! No hard feelings boys but EAST is fixing to make history. 3 in a row. GO GET EM BOYS!!!!
