It is a new season with much anticipation, we will see what the teams have in store...but you hit it on the nose about the Darnell boy..what a myth, I think Burg was glad when he left, all I heard about him was "he" thought he was good! But, most kids in highschool do.

If I remember correctly, unlike South Webster, AfroCentric was in violation of the rules and had their championship taken away from them. Which then unfairly affected SW because they had lost in a close game to AC in the quarterfinals. Thus, one could speculate that since AC won the final game in a blowout, that SW could have won that game and been State Champs the year before Wag came out. They should have at least been considered as State Runner up. Every team that lost to Afrocentric in that tourney basically got screwed out of their title shot.

You are right, but it was only a screw up of paperwork not being submitted correctly. I really felt bad for SW, nothing they could do. Would they have been State Champs?, we'll never know. I saw all those games at the Final Four and thought, SW was by far the better team than those playing. That is why I have been Begging for a fifth title, 4 for public schools and one for private schools.

Pub, The Wag xfer is a very sensitive subject in Jeeptown. They wailed and bitched and moaned the year before about Afro U getting players from all over Franklin county then fell silent when Wag showed up. I told a good friend of mine when Wag enrolled that they had just secured a State championship but he could no longer say a word about transfers. He reluctantly agreed. I don't blame Brig., they fired his coach and he wouldn't play for the new one. Everything he did was by the rules and I seriously doubt anyone "recuited" him, he chose to play with his AAU friend, yet the implication was there and still remains.
There has been several good players transfer from Green and go to other schools, Darnell was not one of them. A legend in his mind but nothing else. The Rase boys followed their dad and mom to 'Peake, can't blame them, I'd have liked to have played for Norm. Plus, Norm has some connections with college coaches, Lew had none. Good move on Rase's part.
Let it go, both sides, move on and enjoy what you got. The 'Burg doesn't recruit, nor does Ironton or any other successful team in the area. Their programs reputation does that for them.

I think many will be suprised at how good Chilli remains this year after all of the talent that they lost last year. After January they will be blowing people out by 40 or more just as last year. They just might be every other game instead of every game.

Art, I have followed Burg basketball for well over 30 years and I don't recall the Darnell boy making much of an impact while at Wheelersburg. Not saying he wouldn't have helped Green and been a star there, but at the Burg he was just a mediocre ballplayer at best and I don't remember him actually playing much.
