Yes I go to look at the Daily Times to read about the Minford Soccer victory, and you guessed it.......NO ARTICLE.
2 words to shout to them down there.................................WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Portsmouth Daily Times Screws up Again
Re: Portsmouth Daily Times Screws the Pooch Again
the leadership of the daily times is nuts. if you want to sell papers then cover the local sports. big win for minford and no mention. how hard would it be to get a minford student to write a quick note about the game and put it in the paper? evidently impossible. i actually pay 50 cents everyday just to see who died. but with sites like this one, papers are becoming a thing of the past. RIP daily times.

Like I said before. The Scioto Voice is the way to go for local High School Sports. You can get them in the Burg on Wednesday evenings. Hands down the best money you will spend for local sports. I only wish they had more people buying it so that they could print more often.
Re: Portsmouth Daily Times Screws the Pooch Again
i agree. best coverage by far, and they cover all the sports. can't beat the 20 bucks per year. lets hear it for the voice.
Re: Portsmouth Daily Times Screws up Again
Honestly, I don't know that more people buying it would help that much. The paper is very small and has a very small staff. They don't own a printing press (at least a million dollar piece of equipment). They could possible increase their staff and run twice a week. OR Maybe they can buy the Times and its equipment though and run it right.
But seriously don't look for the Minford/Hiland game in the Scioto Voice this week either. It goes to press on Tuesdays after noon. It was already being printed when this game was being played. But it will be in next week's Voice. Also the All-district selections and reports on the all-star games will be in next week.
The Times will probably have a report tomorrow. It looked like someone from Minford wrote the last story of the District championship game and submitted it to them and that may happen again. They had done a similar thing over the summer with the Ohio Cup but that time they sent it to the Voice too--the Voice published it.
Anyway, yesterday there was only one local HS game and it was the Minford-Hiland game. As recent as last year, they would have sent a reporter to cover it. They did a preview of the upcoming Jeep/Eastern Volleyball game instead? They also are probably getting the previews of the coming football games. But even so, in the past, someone would have gone to cover a sweet-sixteen game.

4 Words The Times just Stinks . Thats all i got to say about that . The Voice is the way to go for local sports
Re: Portsmouth Daily Times Screws up Again
There was an article on the game in the Times today. It had no by-line so I suspect someone from Minford wrote it for them and submitted it again. Which is good.
At least someone covered the volleyball game last night.
But I am still waiting to find out how Lauren Dever finished up in tennis this year. I guess I will have to ask her if I see her around town sometime.
