Hey can we SIDERS of 88 get a little bit of love after all we were the first team to ever make the playoffs in Wests history, granted we got waxed by Ironton at da tank but I will put my team agaisy any of these being mentioned on this thread. Offense-Rb=P. Howell,R. Walker,B. Evans,J. Howell,Qb=B. Howell,O-Line= W. Howell,M. Morgan,L. Estep and all the others had it not been for big Dick Tipton choking against the burg we would have gone 10-0 but in the 2nd half with a 13-0 lead we got beat 14-13. 88 was the year they changed it to 8 teams getting in the playoffs to by the way i know cuz its how we got in a 8 seed to go to the tank. I will say the 02 team is the best by far with the run the made but if i could turn back time id sure like a crack at them.

The 88 team has gotten some love man as I ranked them the second best team in school history. However, it was 1999 when they expanded it to an 8 team format. West entered the playoffs in 1988 ranked 4th in region 11, Div III.

I'm well aware of T's history and record, I misundertood the topic and thought we were discussing coaches while at PWHS.

In the 70's and 80's it was the general feeling among the press that Tipton was taking 5-5 talent teams and coaching them to 8-2 records.

Yip, and they had 1 lineman out that game and they said that was why they lost 34-7 I believe???? 34-7, ouch I guarantee you that was one of the hardest losses East had to ever endure. I remember looking at the back of Andy Arnett's jersey as he ran like 95 yards on a QB sneak for 6. We finished 6-4 that year. It was an odd year to say the least. Talk about having diesel therapy a trip to Columbus Bishop Hartley, a trip to Mitchell Indiana, Point Pleasant, Fairland away.... I hate buses....
