Round 2 Ironton vs. New Lexington at JACKSON
Re: Round 2 Playoffs: Ironton vs. New Lexington
No way is it twice as far.
Ironton to JHS takes a solid hour or 1 HR 10 minutes on a bus......New Lex would be about a 1/2 hour longer.
How far is New Lex from logan? 20 miles? Logan to Jackson and Ironton to Jackson iare similar...but Ironton is about 5 miles longer....both hideous 40-45 miles.
Chilllicothe's parking isn't the greatest played right in the midst of Arch St. Jackson has ample parking.
Hillsboro might be a fair choice....but too far for each IMO.

Jackson is by far the best choice for both schools. Any place else would be a crime. Well, may be not a crime but it would be BS. Unless they play the game in Ontario, Canada, I'll be their to see the Tigers for the first time this year.
The Tigers running backs need to carry a football covered in hog snot all week. I hate to see their season end on a T.O..

Re: Round 2 Playoffs: Ironton vs. New Lexington
Would Jackson host back to back nights of games, because ifthis game is played there, isn't there a chance that the Burg-Minford winner might play the Nelsonville game winner there Saturday night?
That would two great nights of football.
This should be a great matchup. NL won't be able to overlook this Ironton team. I know myself as a Burg fan wouldn't want to have to play them again in the playoffs.
Good luck to the Tigers in this one. Got to go with the local team.

Should be Jackson but......
With the Tigers involved I am sure the OHSAA will send us to Cleveland or maybe Ontario
We will go anywhere they send us and WIN!
GO TIGERS GO!

Re: Round 2 Playoffs: Ironton vs. New Lexington
Looking at some of the NL post on other topics...most say ironton will be an easy W....After what I saw last night...I think as long as Ironton don't come out in that 5-2 zone with no pass rush the first half...Ironton should be able to give anyone in our region a run for their money...Our offense played very well...had the series of three and out with all three incompletions...on the last play lamb was held..but I don't know if it would have mattered...other than that series..Ironton looked great...Ironton had two fumbles also...can't do that...Ironton should be able to hold their own with NL..
Would like to know more on New Lex offense/Defense and what happened in the Crooksville and Bishop Hartley games.

I dont know how anyone else feels, but playing at Tanks can be intimidating. I wonder how New Lex will respond.
Re: Round 2 Playoffs: Ironton vs. New Lexington
Crooksville was much improved this year and is somewhat one of our rivals. Bishop Hartley is also a good team and it just so happened that we played them in week seven which was there FIRST home game of the year so they were pretty fired up. Not making excuses for why they were close just glad we came away with the W.
Re: Round 2 Playoffs: Ironton vs. New Lexington
The problem with Jackson could be this. If P. West wins, they will face the winner of the Johnstown-Monroe/Ready winner. I don't think OHSAA will place two playoff games at one site on the same weekend. I see that as the likely destination for the DV, round 2 game.
I still think this goes to Lancaster or Groveport. The only other option would be to put the DV game at one of these two sites. In either case, one of the "river" towns get the shaft.

My first choice would be Jackson due to playing on the rug. Plus I-Town hopefully would get some SEOAL support from the hometown of Jackson.
My second choice would be Chillicothe if they are talking about distance. I-Town would get some SEOAL support as well there too.
My third choice would be Chillicothe Unioto from the SVC. Their stadium is new, and much larger than Chillicothe's Herrnstein. It could fill both sides, plus they have great parking. I don't know if that school even applied for a playoff site. The bonus would be many Chillicothe SEOAL fans would probably travel over to Unioto to watch that game if it didn't interfer with Chillicothe's, that's if the CAVS win tonight, and if they do, when they play next week.
Good luck Ironton show the MVL who the SEOAL is and what we are about!

Re: Round 2 Playoffs: Ironton vs. New Lexington
fbfever9.....JHS athletic director Bob Kight and I have talked about this at length, and I know Jackson has applied for as many games as they can get.
I can see them easily hosting two playoff games in the same weekend. One on Friday and another on Saturday.
Before the days of FieldTurf, it was much more difficult for one site to host games on back-to-back nights. Toll is taken on natural grass surfaces, especially bad weather. But it's nothing now for Jackson for instance to host games every night of the week or close to every night of the week if you consider they already do it for example (varsity soccer matches on Tuesday night, varsity soccer matches on Thursday night, varsity football on Friday night and varsity soccer matches on Saturday afternoon).
If Jackson can host two games in one weekend, it would. And, it may. Plenty of parking, great facilities, 7,200 seating capacity, etc. You won't find a better high school stadium in the southern half of the state.

Re: Round 2 Playoffs: Ironton vs. New Lexington
I think this game is more likely than any other to be @ Jackson
Burg may play at Chilly....Pwest could play at Spartan (being the top seed)
I look for D5 Regional Final in week #13 to be at Jackson......unless both Burg and PWest lose
