I have been on the forum a long time, and I have read your posts. Please don't take this wrong , but your post is almost delusional. It hurts to get hammered, just like Westfall did to us last year. It was 28-3 at half, and we lost like 38-10. No matter how you slice it we got beat last year, and you got beat last night. It doesn't taste good going down, but don't write silly stuff like this about it.

Ironton played a bad game, everyone knows that. But NL had something to do with that, and to deny it is crazy. NL did not play a perfect game, but they played a fine game, and in the first half shredded a find Ironton defense.

Ironton had four decent offensive plays in the game, period. You had a 25 yard run early, a long pass, a big kickoff return, and a long run. You got one TD out of it, and some stat guys had you with less that 100 yards total offense. I don't know how many yards you had, but it wasn't many, your QB was running for his life all night long, you gave up two safeties, and a ton of negative plays. it's not all your fault.

Ferry may torch NL next week, but I doubt it. We won't live in denial if it happens.

Delusional Im think Im the only rational one on this thread right now. I dont like it, but I cant take it when we get beat by a better team. Foronstance a few years ago Desales beat us 40-0. Worse beating I ever saw Ironton take. Desales beat us cause they were that much better. Logan last year beat us cause the were better. New Lex beat us cause we beat ourselves.
Ironton was running the ball at will then would get a penalty which pushed us back and forced us to pass. It wasnt anything New Lex did that beat us it was the stupid penalties and the dropped passes and other idiotic mistakes that we did that beat us.
You want me to say you beat us fine Ill say it you beat us, but you know and the New Lex fans know deep down you really werent the better team tonight. You were the recipent of Ironton imploding on themselves tonight. Hey a wins a win and thats all that matters. You guys will go on to face Martins Ferry while we sit at home and watch. Thats the stone cold facts right there.

I agree with you on one thing, Ironton imploded. but the rest, we will just have to agree to disagree at this point. I'd love to get my hands on a game tape and drink some coffee with you as we looked at it together. I think you would change your mind.

Ah at least we agree on something.

New Lexington's defense was stiffling but...that is the flattest I have ever seen an Ironton team, ever! Mistakes couldn't even be counted! It's was not the same team we saw play Westfall and Nelsonville York. Ironton simply did not play to their potential. I don't know that they could have ever beaten New Lexington but at the same time, they sure made New Lexington look a lot better than what they were.

Not all of us Ironton fans agree. They were the better team tonight. We did make a lot of stupid mistakes but you have to give credit where it is due. New Lexington has a very good team that played almost flawlessly. Congratulations, New Lexington on a good win.

Oh yes, those Tigger fans can't take a loss without making excuses. Why, to hear them tell it, they are way better than all the teams that defeated them. Just bad luck.....

Thanks, TigerMack. Good answer and even better attitude about the game.
I was pulling for Ironton being a SEOAL neighbor. Sorry to see the Tigers' season come to an end, especially for the seniors.

HOLD ON! I didn't say that...now read what I ACTUALLY SAID!....don't get into what Hammerdown is trying to start/say cause that is NOT what I said.. I did say that I didn't know that Ironton could have ever beaten New Lexington but at the same time, they made NL look better than what they were. That's not a stretch...and it's not taking anything away from New Lexington, it's just being real

I for one, would never think that the MVL is anything but a tough league. I remember the games vs. John Glenn and Sheridan. Nuff Said.

Congrats to NL, and good luck against MF.

Fine season Tigers.

What I saw was NL smacked the Tigers right in the mouth on the first series; 1st & 10, 2nd and 12, 3rd and 18...safety. And Ironton was stunned and did not forget that. I think the frustration came from some seniors realizing this would be their last game. We had WAY too many 3rd and 15-20 situations, but that being due to not being able to move the ball. NL seemed to know every play Ironton was going to run. NL has a really nice team and Good Luck to them and they earned that win in my view. I thought they were the best team we would face in the region. Good season Tigers and Good Luck to those seaiors.

im from fu , and i remember when ironton came to fu a few years back. They ran it and ran it and ran it more. last night, they wanted to, but couldnt. Whoever it was that said ironton was running all over them then would get a penalty , um no. when you have 46 yards at the half you arent running all over anyone. Qb was 2-something for -2 yards at the half. Ironton NEVER found something that made them comfortable that could attack new lex's D. Everything they tried didnt work. They had a sweep work once and then after that it was never there again. Ironton's qb im sure is very sore this morning...he took some licks. One thing that i noticed early in the game last night was that ironton was helping new lex kids up after the plays and i thought both these teams are showing a ton of respect and sportsmanship for each other. As the game wore on and ironton got frustrated some of that changed. Its never a good thign when kids from your team are pulling their own player back to the huddle because hes yelling at an official. I thought the QB looked like he was doing everything he could to keep them in order but one time he had had enough of someone cuase he just waved his hand at the huddle like forget it.

New lex took ironton to the woodshed and never really game them much hope. Great game by lex.

GalliaGrad78, I dont think any real football fans with any knowledge of the game from the SEOAL, ever thought the MVL was as you said a cupcake league. It is always the same few and almost always from the same couple of schools., same people finishing in the middle of the pack or 7-3, 6-4 every year. The MVL is a very good league. In fact, they pretty much thumped us this year head to head didnt they? Sheridan, Tri Valley, New Lexington, John Glenn Crooksville, just to name a few. I was at Zanesville last night but people I talked with this morning said this was nothing but a beat down. They said New lexington beat Ironton every phase of the game. New Lexington too fast, too physical, and too good, not close. I do not see New Lex having any problem with Martins Ferry, most likely will be like the game a couple of years ago when New Lex put it on them. Good year Ironton, just went against too much last night, good year.

New lex was the better team tonight.Ironton in my opinion got out of their routine, due to NL's defense.
Ironton couldn't do anything right tonight for being wrong.

Great year Tigers!!! A big thank you for all your hard work and dedication.Iv'e had a pleasure in watching you all perform.

Also Good luck to NL win it all!

I also wanted to say some of these posters on here that were not giving NL any credit prior to the game,some/most of those weren't from Ironton.

Jkumpiretriesagain=class
Your posts on this and the prior page are pure class.
Congrats to NL from this Tiger fan,I will be rooting NL on all the way to the state title!

Any league is going to have its bottom teams but what separates the MVL, at least of the past couple of years, from the SEOAL, MSL and SOC are the number of quality football teams at the top. Leagues go in cycles but at the moment I'd consider the MVL the best league around here.

Ironton started off poorly from the onset of the game. A safety on your first series
doesn't beat you, but a tone was set that it would be uphill for the Tigers the rest of
the game, and the well-prepared New Lexington team played pretty much downhill
most of the game. When New Lexington got Ironton down, as good teams should
do, they didn't let the Tigers get up off of the mat.

From the 'Woulda'-Coulda'-Shoulda'' department, if both teams had been able to
bring their best game to the field, a much more evenly matched contest no doubt
would have taken place. I think everybody concerned would have much rather seen
such a game.

When things went badly for the Tigers (field position; penalties; turnovers; etc.),
they went really bad. When things went well for New Lexington, they went really
well. A very tough night for Ironton and a very good night for New Lexington, and,
there's your end result.

Thanks, Ironton, for a playoff-inclusive season. Good luck to New Lexington.
See everybody next year at Tanks Memorial Stadium!
