Re: 12/2 Eastern @ Meigs
It will be tough for Eastern to handle the two big post players for Meigs - I like the Marauders in this match-up.
Re: 12/2 Eastern @ Meigs
Cody Mattox is a beast on the boards from Meigs. With Jesse Smith and Cody Mattox in the post, Eastern will have a long night.

Re: 12/2 Eastern @ Meigs
I'd say the edge goes to Meigs.
Eastern just isn't ready yet, They lack ball control and don't have a point guard that can handle the ball too well. Nor do they have strong post players. Meigs has the talent in all the positions, including a deep bench. Darrell Goff plays tremendous defense, Dillon Boyer is improving with each scrimmage, Treay McKinney has really stepped up and I see big things from him this year, Cody Mattox has adjusted to the #4 spot and has become a solid re-bounder, and of course Jesse Smith lights it up. If those 5 isn't enough, you have Cody Stewart, Dustin Ulbridge and Mike Davis.
Eastern has a great group of kids and I don't want to take anything away from them, but I think they are going to start out slow this year. I very much would like to see them do well, because I think that most are counting them out because Howie is gone. I hope these boys use this as motivational tool this season.

I think meigs will win but not big. I don't think meigs has the firepower to blow anybody out

Re: 12/2 Eastern @ Meigs
Wow, no surprise at all. I figured meigs would finally beat eastern, but should have known better with the same coaching. what an embarrassment to the fans of meigs county to let eastern come to your home court and get a victory. Stupid decisions by coach ewing. First half your winning by 4 and take out all your starters to prove some kind of point or something. the result is you your down by 1 point now. Also first half Jerod Williamson played great ball while he was in the game and he don't see the floor in the second half. Another stupid decision is putting a kid in that you know turns the ball over every time he touches the last 3 years, the result was the first 4 times he touched the ball he turned it over. Oh and what about the 4th period when the game mattered with about 1:00 left to go and you take out all your big men that can stop them in the paint when it comes down to the last 13 seconds of the ball game and the go around three guys for a layup with 4 seconds to go and you go down by 2 points. Now for the last stupid decision, why not call a timeout with that 4 seconds left on the clock? Typical meigs county coaching, looking like it's gonna be a long long basketball season once again.

Eastern played well on defense. Jessie smith in foul trouble the whole game. Good win for the young eagles

Eastern played very well on defense, not taking anything away from those Eastern boys. This was a huge win for them and can build confidence going into the season. Easterns coach out coached ewing other then when he called a timeout to ruin a wide open layup. however the timeout actually helped them, cause if he would have scored then, meigs would have gotten the ball back with time on the clock and a chance to tie it at the end.Super Trooper wrote:Eastern played well on defense. Re: 12/2 Eastern @ Meigs
Yea I don't think he anticipated the layup to be that wide open. I couldn't believe meigs didn't have a big guy in or make Carnahan take an outside shot at the end

Re: 12/2 Eastern @ Meigs
Eastern played harder and played much better on defense defense. Meigs has too many kids playing out of control, turning the ball over, and stupid fouls. Eastern earned this win with better discipline and a BETTER COACH.

Re: 12/2 Eastern @ Meigs
Nice win for Eastern. Good start for a new year. I think Eastern will get better and better as the season goes on. This was a great win for a new coach and a mostly new team. I hope they do well. Glad to see so many kids out to play.
