Coal Grove Away
Oak Hill Away
Waverly Away
Wheelersburg Home
West Away
Northwest Home
Valley Home

This looks to be a tough schedule next year, I would like to see the 3 w's get broken up somehow for Minford's sake. I think the only team on that schedule that may not have a winnig record is huntington ross and northwest.

Yes its the same this year. 2010 may be a little different with 2 teams leaving, and 2 comming back.
Home dates for next year are, 9/4, 9/11, 10/2, 10/16, & 10/23 !
Rember, the 2009/2010 season starts on 12/2 !

Yes, he comes from good stock. His father and brother were good football players along with his uncles. I know for a fact he will play 110% just becuase he is a Gaines and his older brother and father would not settle for less...

With the exception of week 3 this schedule looks pretty solid. You will have good running attacks with Wellston and Coal Grove then throw in Oak Hill's pass orientated offense, this should be good tests before the 3 W's. If im not mistaken I believe they are getting broken up in coming years, I also hear we may be travelling across the river some time in the near future. Since lifting hasnt even began yet I will forgo my prediction for the year, maybe I'll give it when the weather gets a little warmer.

I like that schedule much better. Anyone have any early lifting numbers? If this team buys into the system and completely sells out in the off-season conditioning, they can have great year next year.

T. Gains will be the next great Minford back! You can mark that down. I was very impressed with him when I watched him in Junior High. It was yards after contact that impressed me the most, he just keeps driving forward. Some of that SWAUGER VALLEY MENTALITY!

Any early news on lifting thus far? I know we won't see big numbers till after basketball season. And any of this past years seniors gonna go on and play at the college level?

I would like to get feed back on these questions.
What are Minfords weakness from last year going into next year?
What are the strengths they had last year going into next year?

For me, I looked only at the two losses to see what happened.
Against West, we seemed over powered and out muscled. Which means we need to lift harder to get bigger and stronger.
Against, Burg 2x's, not much except, I wonder about the mind set of the players? Did they believe they would beat the burg or had that, here we go again, mind set when burg tied it up both times?
I would like to see Minford cont working on speed too. Do they have a speed camp during the summer they attend? I heard the Burg does.

I dont think the right philosophy here is to mimic what Burg does.

Kids will get faster in the weightroom. They should have jump rope stations, etc., to work on some agility exercises to offset the straight strength exercises.

Against West, they got thrown around. West had a boatload of seniors that were going up against a pile of Juniors and Sophomores at Minford. West's line was having their way with Minford up front that was setting up huge downfield blocks. When you can get a lineman on a cornerback 10 yards downfield, the cornerback is not going to make the play.

Against Burg, it was poor tackling and turnovers game #1, and it was turnovers and quickness up front on the line in game #2.

A year of experience will be the key. Minford returns alot on both sides of the ball next year. The main thing they lacked in 08 was age and experience.

The strength they should carry over to next year is the amount of juniors and sophmores that got a ton of playing time this year and will be ready to go next year. They should have 3-4 very nice backs, a solid QB and a solid group of WR's on offense next year. I think they will be a bit more explosive on offense and should score alot of points.

For strengths I would have to say that the QB, WR's and RB's coming back are one of the more talented groups top to bottom Minford has ever had. As with every team, spending time in the weight room is key, especially for the line. I think that the team needs to get a little nastier and play with an attitude, not cocky, but confident, Like Jack Tatum said, "My best hits bordered on felonious assault", Minford needs to get their minds right to beat the w's and succeed in the playoffs. This program has come along way in a short amount of time and will only continue to get better, the top programs are built over time, and this will be the case with Minford Football. I just can't help but think that with Minford being so close these last few years, the are on the edge of breaking out and turning into one of the top programs in this area!

Not to mention any names, but I hear that 2 will be returning for their Senior year. If they are still with us when 2 a days are over, then you can count them.
Some of the players are in winter track. The coaches approched them about playing , and feel it will help them next year come football season. (they are still lifting before track practice)
