Peebles 70 Northwest 27

Post by JayBruce »

Saw on another topic that's what the score was last night. Looks like a very long year in Mohawk Country. Either that or Peebles is that good?

Not a very good team?? Maybe not a great team but I think there a pretty good team. You think Manchester should be state champs but Peebles waxed the floor with them....Sorry to inform you but Manchester isnt a very good team...Combs will score and other than him THATS IT....could be a long year for the stinkhounds

This guy is just bitter that Peebles wiped manchester off the floor. Peebles is a good team, and they have the best PG in the league and one of the best in Division 4. The only player from manchester who would start for Peebles is Combs. So let me guess, Ripley isn't good either? lol Mitchell only dropped about 30 last night. lol WOW, No knock on the hounds but their best years are definitely behind them for awhile. Just imagine when Combs graduates...

Don't pay attention guys I think it's safe to say this guy is about 15

Peebles is very young. They are going to be a good team and should put up a good defense for a league title. The Mohawks are also very young and don't sport a whole lot of talent. They will have a long season. I attended the game last night and noticed a few things that I didn't care a whole lot for. I think the score was ran up a bit because up by nearly 50, Coach Arey had his starters in with 3 minutes remaining. He also put on a full court press within the last five minutes that I thought was unecessary. Trent Arey, by all means, is a great point guard. He is quick and has good vision but did seem out of control a few times last night. He also had a few instances where he was viewed taunting the crowd and other NW players. This was unecessary and uncalled for. He has to block out the crowd and go about his game. He did not show very good sportsmanship last night. Peebles was by far the superior team and did not need to run up the score to show this or display bad sportsmanship. That being said, I wish them and Coach Arey the best of luck and hope to go watch them at the Convo again this season.

Pride sometimes comes out when adults in the crowd are saying things directly at you, so mabey they need to show some sportsman ship. Agreed somewhat about the starters but they were rotated in and out most of the fourth quarter.

Its not like they did not sub the entire game. I heard they took 3 of the starters out of the game for the first time when it was something like 6-2 in the first.

I was there and they rotated the whole game. I would agree they could have slowed the pace at the end but most of the kids that were on the floor were subs so they want to play hard. Can you blame them.

I cannot blame the subs for playing hard. I'm not knocking that at all. When they get an opportunity, they should play hard. They continued to press with the starters in the game. I don't believe that NW fans were directing comments toward Trent. They were directing some frustration towards the refs for some no calls that could have been made on him and Trent took exception to that.

I was also at the game and I did NOT see any sign of a lack of sportmanship/taunting from Arey. The only incident that occured was the push from the NW player against Arey.

southernohsportsfan, do explain your point of view.

I do agree that the shove from the NW player was uncalled for and he did receive a flagrant foul call for it. Arey looked over at specific fans and clapped his hands after making a free throw and looked over at the at different times when they were voicing their displeasure at the refs and shook his head for no calls that probably should have been called against him. The fans were not signalling him out at all. He does need to learn how to forget about the fans and go about his business which is passing the rock and drilling some baskets.

..Peebles is the worst team in shl when it comes to bad sportsmanship...manchester not good?once they get clicking there's no better team in shl and not many better in seo..they have plenty of people that can score 10-15 a night as proved in game against ripley..yeah they lost but that was due to a few untimely turnovers

Can't everyone agree to disagree? Seriously bashing teams in your own conference. Why not root for all SHL teams unless of course they play each other then you can argue all you want. Peebles is a good team, Ripley is a Good team, Lynchburg is a good team, Eastern is a good team, Manchester is a good team, Whiteoak is a good team, North Adams is a good team. On any night either one of these teams can beat one another. There is NOT ONE GREAT SHL TEAM. So just be happy when your team wins or shake off the loss and stop holding grudges and whining on a forum site. Seriously, SHUT UP AND ENJOY HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL.

Now time to get back on the NW vs Peebles discussion.
I figured Peebles would blow them out but didn't think it would be that bad.

Probably because you came on here saying Peebles is not a very good team. Manchester has ONE player who would start for Peebles. You are just bitter man, even the manchester fans talk about how irrational you are.

" they have plenty of people that can score 10-15 a night as proved in game against ripley"

So by a couple guys getting in double figures in ONE game that proves they can consistently score 10-15 a night? lol One game does not make a season pal.

Anytime ANY team clicks they are tough to beat. LOL? But the point is manchester isn't clicking. If they shot 60% from the field and held teams in the forties they'd be awesome too. BUT THEY ARENT! You dont see Eastern Brown or South Webster on here making excuses for being 0-3 or having a slow start when they were picked to win their league!

Manchester is not the best team in the league nor no where near the top in SEO at this point. It's early and they have time to figure some things out, and could possibly be a tough out. But at this point their is a blueprint to beat them!

When you win say little, when you lose say LESS!

The game was never a game, northwest was overmatched last night obviously. That being said Coach Scarberry will have the Mohawks as good as they can be come tourney time. Now the subject of sportsmanship, a Peebles fan was sitting right behind me and my friends, on the Northwest side of the gym. At first he rooted his team on like anybody else would. As the game got out of control he continued to get worse and worse being very rude to all fans sitting around him trying to get on peoples nerves. So I finally turned around and told him, well just say I told him. Please these boys put in a lot of time on the court practicing, playing, traveling for our Northwest Mohawks.

On a good note Shawn Puckett tried out for the team for 4 years, and made it his senior season. Last night Coach put him in with a couple minutes left to go in the game and 2 foul shots, a bucket, and a 3 pointer later Shawn had a memory that will last a lifetime. I have known this young man for a long time and he is really good kid, and I am very proud of him. Good job Shawn.

Sitting next to a jerk does not give you the right to say "Well all THESE fans are jerks." Unless they're Steelers or Cardinals fans. All of them are jerks.

And streetbawler, saying our fans are the worst in the SHL as far as sportsmanship goes is not a very sportsmanlike thing to say.
