who did you hear that from? i dont see how a coach could justify bringing a freshman up to varsity when he will probably have to cut from varsity. and if western is having a freshman team, how could he justify taking a freshman from the freshman team? i havent heard this, and imo, it would be rediculous if it did happen.

i think you guys are forgetting another very important member that should be considered... cooper, a 6ft 5in jr. i saw him play against waterford at the convo and thought that as far as defense, he shut that big boy down. i think with his strength, he could be a starter.

also as far as satterfield is concerned, he will not be seeing much if any varsity play.

i think that penwell is a very good ball handler and the only reason that he didnt show that last year was because they passed the ball up the floor instead of dribbling. he is also can shoot the ball from just about anywhere on the floor last year he made 8 threes in one game he will be one of those 20 point a game players. harrop has changed alot this year and penwell or hall both will be bringing the ball up the floor.

I agree with Shanks and Smithson as strong starters but the remaining 3 starters are a toss up. Penwell could be the best player on the team but he is too undependable. I am confident that whatever Coach Harrop decides to do with the team will work.

Ok, I apologize about the name calling but thats its, I stand by everything else I've said.

60ft 6in i still dont think western will be good at all this year.. unless shanks can take it in his hands!!!!!!
Re: WESTERN INDIANS 08-09!!
Well thats nice and you are allowed to have your own opinion, as am I which is "you have no clue" (instead of calling you stupid) and "They dont have just Shanks", they also have Smithson and Penwell....and Hall.....
Re: WESTERN INDIANS 08-09!!
western looked good against the burg at the previews. coach Harrop subbed alot and to me really didnt lose alot. played burg to a tie but could have won but they didnt get back on d a couple of times and gave burg 2 easy fastbreaks . looks like they have good size and experience and youth and height for next year also. good luck to the western indians this season. i know a few good people from downtown latham.

I agree with 60ft.6in. Shanks is not the only one. Smithson, Penwell, and Hall.......Penwell at the preveiw was on fire. Hall had some pretty good shots too. I look for the Indians to do well this year.

Good Luck to Coach Harrop and staff, and the boys of Western. Will look forward to seeing you at the Holiday Classic, and follow your team deep into the tourney this year!

Re: WESTERN INDIANS 08-09!!
i hope that the preview just goes to show you guys that penwell can play d and he is a very big threat if you dont guard him. The only thing that i felt was bad was smithson, he had a very poor game at the preview.
Re: WESTERN INDIANS 08-09!!
yeah well the preview doesnt count, who cares if Smithson had a bad "2 quarters".......

Re: WESTERN INDIANS 08-09!!
All i'm going to say is Western Indians SOC 1 Champions. But for some unknown reason I don't think they are going to make much of a tournament run. The past couple of years they have been known to do really good in the regular season then lose in the tournament too early.
Re: WESTERN INDIANS 08-09!!
Huntsment-
You've seen em' play and I've read your typing, which doesnt impress me much (NOT VERY WELL) ...
Bricklayer-
You obviously don't know much. Considering 2 years ago they went to the Regional Finals, then last year they went to the District Finals....

Re: WESTERN INDIANS 08-09!!
yeah i think that for the past two years western has done pretty good considering that not long ago they coundnt get above the 500 mark.
And 60. ft 6 in. your right about the two quarter thing but from what i hear smithson hasnt been doing well at any of the scrimmages either.
