South Gallia 08-09
Re: South Gallia 08-09
Good luck S.G.! I heard that you looked well at your scrimmage on Saturday and that your only problem is the point guard postion. I heard that Cory Haner played really well on Saturday but he doesn't have the speed he needs.

There are things that everyone on the team needs to work on, not just the PG's. And Haner may be a little slower but he is learning a new system and is only a freshman. You have to give Freshman time since the game is so much quicker than the one they are used to and they are not fully matured.
There were alot of things that went well for the Rebels and alot of things that didnt. I am sure everyone will improve as the season goes on.
Re: South Gallia 08-09
Who is going to be playing and starting varsity for the Rebels this year? Could somebody post there schedule if they have it?

I don't think Coach Saunders has picked his starters yet.
bballfool...Donnie told me the scrimmage would start around 5:30!

Re: South Gallia 08-09
Why do they play all those Christian schools? Can they not fill the schedule with teams from the local area? Just curious.
We have only one Christian Shool on the schedule for the whole first half of the season. Then you get into league play and it is hard to find the teams in a league with open dates to play you and to match those open dates up is almost impossible. That is my guess to why you see those Christian schools on there.

The only dates we had open to schedule them they were playing North College Hill and Canton McKinley. They said they were gonna schedule Trimble but they wanted to have some chance at winning so they schedules them two. Having some chance is better than no chance.

Rebels looked pretty good at times up at Jackson last Friday. We make the trip up to Trimble tonight for a scrimmage with Trimble and Belpre. Now, lets see if we can put a few good string of quarters together instead of one here and one there. But hey, that is what scrimmages are for.

Nice location M&M haha.
We take that schedule crap ever year at SG so its not like its something new. if we ever go back down to where we were before these past few years we wont hear it anymore for a while though haha

Re: South Gallia 08-09
I agree Brutus! I'm always on here looking at how weak everyone thinks all of the schedules at S.G. are. It's a bunch of crap! The athletes do a great job against who they play! It's hard to win sectionals two or three years in a row and be in the state playoffs two years in a row!Good luck to all South Gallia athletes I'm behind you in whatever you do! Good luck to the boys on Saturday at Miller!

Re: South Gallia 08-09
yeah thats true too! How does everyone think we prepare and good good enough to make it to the convo to years in a row and witch it should of really been 4 but atleast 3! In my mind the best team that we ever had didnt make it just because of some uncommon stuff happened that night that didnt happen the whole season.
Re: South Gallia 08-09
Better to be critisized for doing something that not be known because u did nothing, right?
Re: South Gallia 08-09
Everyone needs to cut SG a break; they play their schedule just like every other team, correct? And then, they have to win games in the playoffs to advance. SG has had a lot of talented basketball players and has accomplished quite a bit. I don't know who they beat and which years, but SG has won some postseason games and has done a nice job. Keep it up! Good Luck and enjoy your season and play every game like it is your last. Leave it all on the court!

What about Greater Beckley Christian? Landmark Christian?
I have watched both Cross Lanes Christian, WV and Teays Valley Christian, WV play Ohio Valley Christian at Gallipolis and in Piketon at Miracle City Academy and know they could defeat many of these small D4 public schools in basketball around here.
Teays Valley Christian from Scot Depot, WV won the Association of Christian Schools International ACSI (Class A) Ohio River Valley Region Boys State Championship last year. Here is the write-up from last season:
Teays Valley Christian School wins tournament.
The Herald-Dispatch
TEAYS VALLEY, W.Va. -- Teays Valley Christian School is celebrating winning the Ohio River Valley Region boys basketball championship of the Association of Christian Schools International.
Teays Valley defeated Granville Christian in the finals, 71-63, at Lake Center Christian School in Hartville, Ohio.
Michael Wright led the Lions with 20 points and made five three-point shots, including two in the final minute of the contest.
Noah Osborne had 18 points and Bryan Davis scored 12.
The Lions put the victory away by hitting 10 of 13 free throws late in the game.
Teays Valley beat Toledo Emmanuel in the semifinals, 61-53. The starting five of Ryan Canterbury, Bryan Hill, Davis, Wright and Osborne played the full 32-minute game.
The Lions advanced past Ohio Valley Christian and Columbus of Liberty in sectional and district play, respectively.
