Still, you don't cut a 6'5" Freshman when you only got 20 to choose from, JV AND Varsity combined!!! Keep 'em all, If you can coach you can work with the less talented and make them better as the years go by. I saw Mike Hughes do it several times.

shoot, send the 6'5 freshman up down to East...we need a couple more tall kids and I am sure he has another growth spert in him. Shoot, I am sure Coach Bradford and Coach Bailey would work with him to get him ready.

Cutting kids is certainly a tough thing{for the coach and the kids}.Times have certainly changed though. When I played Little League [about 100 years ago 8) ]they cut kids every year. That would never be done now. I still believe the head coach has the right to do so ;I just question cutting Freshman even though only 15 kids [seniors thru freshman]made the team [JV included]. Player participation has been down in B-ball the last few years and I believe Coach would have probably made it easier on himself to have kept the freshman so at least they would have a bench. That being said , I applaud the Coach for not keeping certain kids that have been a problem in the past. He must show all the kids that it's all about the TEAM,not ones self, seniors included.Good luck Bobcats.

You've convinced me Jumper, I would rather finish a ball game with only 3 or 4 players on the floor who could "Play" , than with 5 players, one or two who maybe didn't know much about the game. Great point!

Jumper,

You really need to take coaches advice on not posting on every statement that is made on this forum. Hoot is without a doubt one of the most loyal of the faithful that Green has. If you would stop and read his post. He agrees that the coach has the right to cut players, but just noted that he would have not had as rough a way if he had kept those players.

I, on the other hand, would like to know why you would not keep these two freshmen? I am not against the coach and hope that he is truly successful and rebuilds Green. My question is based on if the only reason he did not keep them was because they were not good enough, isn't that what he is supposed to do? A coach is supposed to help players get BETTER not just keep the ones that are already good. If he did not keep them for other reasons as well, then whatever he decides for the betterment of the team is his right. In fact it is his right as the coach to decide if he wants to DEVELOP players or just coach them.

Again, Best of luck to Coach Kitchen and the Bobcats.

Jumper,

As I stated earlier, Hoot is probably the biggest supporter for the Green Bobcats. I know talking to him and knowing him for almost 100 years(haha), he is not looking for instant transformation. He like many like him who support Green, loyally and completely, do not expect instant results. They want to see fundamentals and defense being played. They want to see a team that continues to improve over the course of the year. Records do not mean that much to the most faithful fans. I know it sounds like a bunch of crap, but I can tell you that many at Green want only to have a team they can be proud of and cheer for on the court. I know from talking to them it got really hard to cheer for them when they saw no fundamentals and defense, or team work in the last couple years.

Again, I say good luck to the Bobcats and Coach for the upcoming season.

BOBBY just thinks he's known me for 100 years cause we have the same amount of grey hair! :122248 . Coach has my support based on the perceived fact that the CATS will play defense and they will show sportsmanship and play the game correctly.I wish he had not cut Freshman with open jerseys to fill but I respect the Coach's decision to do so. Good luck to the Cats this year.

BOBBY,,,,SORRY,,,, I CAN'T EVEN TALK ABOUT THE IRISH..GIVE ME A COUPLE MONTHS TO GET OVER THE CUSE' GAME. :( :( :(

Hoot,

I think it may take me longer to get over that one.
I understand the thought on the freshman. Ii think I will try to make a few games this year. I will of course get in touch with you when I'm going to the games.

Finally, I am not for sure how but I think I have more gray hair than you.haha

Go Cats!!

Well here's the story. In hindsight I bet the coach wished he'd kept all 20 kids.
