Do you mean a CURRENT freshman that will be a sophomore next year?

I'm sure there will be some sophomores step up and contribute, there usually are. Tim King did a GREAT job at left tackle this fall. Jesse Arnold was really coming into his own before his injury.

I'm not THAT familiar with the group that will be sophomores in 2009, but I would imagine there are some kids who could see time as 4th or 5th receiver and maybe somewhere on defense.

I'm not sure Angle will play a lot at defensive end. I think Ryan Sigler did a great job when called upon last year. He has good speed and a nice frame. May not be the dominant force that Neff was, but he can be reliable.

Those are nice athletes. I'm not naming anyone here though. However, I think we're not going to see the level we have been spoiled with lately with that class. They'll have to wait until the vacancies aren't fillable from above. There are some 2nd team Juniors and Seniors to-be who are still stronger than the Soph's to-be.
There's only one way around it. I challenge them to prove me a liar and bust their butts for the next few years in the wt. rm and LEARNING all they can while they still can. I hope they do, I just haven't seen it yet. There is hope. The class beneath them compliments them well in respect to forming a comlete team from what I've heard.
Does anyone know if there is any chance of some new talent re-joining or moving into the district? We usually don't get that here...like some other places!

This past years 9th grade started out slow but from what I heard when everyone was back playing, things came together over the last three games.

That's what I'm hoping for. He would be a great addition on the offensive side of the ball, adding another athlete to fill the receiver/running back roll.

The Chiefs will already be solid with Mays/Rutter/McDaniel/Cavinee/Jurgensmier/R. Sigler, etc. But adding Guess to that mix would be another weapon.

I think next year's senior class is about as strong, talented and deep a SINGLE class as has been seen recently in Logan. They will go on another great run and will host another playoff game at home. It is always folly to predict a season a year ahead and one never knows what teams lurk in the postseason but Logan could go to the regional finals next year and who knows from there. Any players who emerge to help are icing on the cake. I know this is another thread but I'll add I think Logan must begin looking elsewhere for competition outside of the SEOAL. Demographics, not tradition, dictate this move.

why? these things go in cycles. other teams will begin to step up. maybe not in 2009 but change is inevitable.

We should definatly get out of the SEOAL. Winning it 9 times in the past 11 years i think its time to go.

It is hard to replace someone that can play just about anywhere--[Seth] and you just don't get many Mr. Neffs

You have to put Ryan Sigler in at defensive end IMO. Someone else will step up. The (good) problem Logan has is their depth. The player you never heard of will move into spots previously thought irreplaceable. My biggest question is who raises their game during the offseason? There is so much pride in Logan right now that competition will raise the bar and those that put in the work in the weightroom will rise to the top. We may not know until August. . I'll venture the opinion that the skill positions are set

I agree. Ryan Sigler did a great job when called upon this fall. Will he be individually as good as Jon? I doubt it, but that's not whats important. Ryan S can do a great job at defensive end, and maybe we'll see someone like Mason Mays or Dylan Cavinee step up at outside linebacker, and that would open up opportunities for Jordan Jurgensmier or Jordan Rutter at corner.

Logan will be very dangerous is 2009, no doubt about that.

This is Logan, you know. If Lucas Wright and Patrick Angle don't play varsity their freshman year, nobody does. The first kid that gets meaningful time on Logan varsity his freshman year during the Dale Amyx era is a first ballot hall of famer without a doubt.

Ryan Sigler will do fine. I'd look for Ralph Robinson to come up big at both TE and DE this fall. He is a very good athlete, and can do some things. I'd look for him to get just short of ten sacks and close to twenty receptions this year. The spawn of J. Rob cannot be denied!

If Kyle Guess plays football next year, the Chiefs have a SEOAL Championship and a 10-0 record in the bag. The kid runs a 4.5 and is quite agile. He can play anything on the field except OL/DL and would be incredible as the second or third reciever or second tb.

As many have said before, It must be nice being Logan. You guys are a big school playing in a hillbilly league. Why not join a Columbus league and prove your merit? Or maybe you dont have the cajones for that!
