SOC 1
Re: SOC 1
To the person who said if he was any good he would leave Green.
Green was Co Champs in SOC I last year went 15-5 lost to three
teams who made to the District finals, and two made it to the Regionals.
and their two best players from the year before didn't go out for the team.
Green has lost players to other schools in the past.

Anyone hear anyrthing about Previews yet? When and where are they this year? Who is playing who?
Re: SOC 1
Agreed. I believe that Western will surprise some people. They have it going the right direction over there? I know Jordan is no joke at all. Western has been young and still will be fairly young. They work hard, they get rewarded. N.D. S.V. Eastern, and Green are all changeable to me. Western should give the teams a run for the money and I don't expect them to be a walkover. That's what I would like to see.lightle04 wrote:I hope our league is as competitive as it was last year withe 3or4 teams in it the whole year.

Re: SOC 1
I think the loss of Watkins won't hurt them as much as some might think. He is a good player mind you but has never been a real impact player for them in the past. Fitch is a team style coach useing all parts equally not depending on any one or two players to carry them. I truely think they won't miss a beat. And I'm still picking them to finish first or second in our league.

Re: SOC 1
Get some facts straight. I know Eastern just as good as anybody. Things have went the wrong direction at Eastern for the past 4 years. Soon to be 5. I know I would never send my kid there. Bunch of people that don't care as long as they are keeping their jobs and money. I heard from parents that Watkins played his hardest at all times of the game but could never stay confident because of the pressure put on him. He has so much potential of what I have seen downhere in PTown. When he plays Clay and ND. That is all I ever got to watch of him. So athletic, but he has to be allowed to play the game. I make this a big sitiuation because my niece knows him personally and he is nothing but a great person. Watkins deserves the best. Apparently that is yet to come. Don't worry Caleb, I see you young man. You make more people than you could even think of happy.lightle04 wrote:I think the loss of Watkins won't hurt them as much as some might think. I wasn't 100% confident in my pick before he left for Piketon, it was really a total toss up between my top 3. Now they will be in good shape to stay in the top 3. I hope i'm wrong

Green Dough----out of curiosity how has things gone "in the wrong direction" for Eastern the last 4 years. I believe it was just the 2010 season they went undefeated through league play which hadn't been done for I don't know how many years. Interesting observation on your part what exactly would be the "right" direction for a program if that is the wrong one? Sounds like sour grapes bashing a program that has been pretty successful just because you don't like the way your nieces "friend" was handled. If you aren't there then you don't have a clue so you come across sounding like an idiot----I don't know either---I'm SOCII but I follow ALL the local teams closely. Good luck to the kid wherever he goes and good luck to the Eagles this season. I'm also sure all the people out at Beaver will have a collective sigh of relief that you won't be sending your kid there I know I would.
Re: SOC 1
Don't be such a wuss I'm not talking trash about the boy I'm just stating the facts of Eastern style of play they do not depend on one single player but all the players as a whole don't try to spin this into a personal attack on a kid cause it's not Caleb is a good kid and a good player never at any time said otherwise. I'm not a Eastern guy I'm a Western guy and have known the boy for ever. And to say Eastern is going in the wrong direction is just a stupid comment to make you need to check there record over the past 4 years. Last year was a down year and they were the only team in our league to win a sectional crown sounds like a good direction to me there were a lot of teams that would have liked to have went that direction .

My kid will do just fine where he is right now. McVey and Montgomery along with Wheeler got that championship. Their defense led the way with lawhorn and thornsberry. Not the program. The players made it. But their coach beat them before they made it to the convo. A team that should have been no problem simply had a better coaching display. I am taking my Tartans this year to beat them Eagles of your's. Outright respect for the Eagles. The players. Not the setup. They need to hurry and get their new superintendant. Hopefully something will happen for the kods and they will have a chance for college somewhere. Not that their coaches will try to help with that.live4sport wrote:Green Dough----out of curiosity how has things gone "in the wrong direction" for Eastern the last 4 years. Green Dough--- I've been around ball and even coached for years and the one thing I can't stand is people/parents like you. First of all, I'm not an Eagle. Second of all, I will never take any accomplishments from kids but if you think that those boys could walk off the street onto the court without any direction and go win the SOC then you need to pull your head out of your rear. I know their coach and he is a standup guy and good coach. No disrespect to the Eagles but Beaver simply hasn't been the "Mecca" of basketball talent since open enrollment. Last I checked ---not many schools around here (including your Tartans) are exactly loaded with D1 college talent so your idea of players that CARRY a team to a championship and my idea of decent to good players that are well-coached and play good TEAM ball are different. Agree to disagree. You obviously have a biased agenda.

And by the way---Green Dough---when you mentioned college---what exactly are talking about? I hope you mean a new Super to help fill out the paperwork for college because I don't know what else on Earth you could possibly mean. If you are hinting at what I think you are then you are more dillusional than you already sound. We are talking local small school Bball and I'm am very aware of all the local talent that might have a sniff at college ball and you are crazy my friend.

I don't think open enrollment has helped any small schools, Eastern has lost a lot of athletes since the strike in 03. They have really just lost a lot of students period, the numbers are just now starting to work back up.

Re: SOC 1
My point exactly. Soc fan makes my point. Eastern just rolls more and more down hill. The setup they did have with that coach that went to Racine was lost. So they basically had a restart. I really would want to see their coaches record. It wouldnt be significant. I am sure of it. Not biased. Just not fooling myself. I know what goes on around Eastern and it is sad.SOCFAN1430 wrote:live4sport wrote:Green Dough--- I've been around ball and even coached for years and the one thing I can't stand is people/parents like you. Live4sport..you are wasting your effort to type. It is obvious greendough is a reincarnated john wooden that all local coaches and players go to for guidance and wisdom....lol Greendough must also be an expert on school systems that he is not from and his kids do not attend....lol He is very simply someone with an axe to grind and chooses to do so in a despicable way. Sad, very sad. No point in debating anything with this person.
Bottom line: The Eagles have an SOC title and Sectional Championship the last couple years. What has East done in the same time period? Has any other SOC1 school done that ( I don't think any other SOC1 schools have been to the Convo the last 3-4 years)? i am certain Coach Fitch would say the players did win those championships!
When Southern beat the Eagles 2 years ago in the Sectional Finals by 2points they also beat a 16 win South webster team at the Convo in the Districts. Southern was a very good basketball team!
As to the topic at hand, the SOC1 should be very competitive this year!
