Re: Past Champs
BuckeyeCAV has obviously done a lot of research on the SEOAL and I applaud him for his efforts. It is a time consuming effort for sure.
In his SEOAL post above he lists the Pomeroy Panthers as a charter member of the SEOAL and I find this to be in error.
The SEOAL was formed on March 7, 1925 at a meeting held in Wellston at the Rogan Hotel. Bill Thomas, of Wellston, was the man who instigated the meeting because he was interested in organizing high school athletics in southeastern Ohio.
The schools that were present at the initial meeting of the SEOAL and signed the constitution included only Athens, Gallipolis, Ironton, Jackson, Logan, Nelsonville, Portsmouth and Wellston. Oak Hill had reps at the meeting but declined membership as they believed "the league requirements were a little too heavy for their school at that time". To make it easier for BuckeyeCAV to verify this it was taken from a news item in The Jackson Herald (3/14/25).
Pomeroy was admitted to the league in 1925, but not as a charter member. Great post BuckeyeCAV. Hope this will only make it more accurate.

Re: Past Champs
In 1928 (I think) Marshall (in Highland CO on rt 124 just outside of Hillsboro) won the state championship.
Lynchburg Clay (1993), North Adams (1996), Eastern Brown and Whiteoak (2002) all made the state final 4.........with North Adams being 25-0 were hosed on a shot from just inside of half court CLEARLY AFTER the buzzer.........coulda been their year for sure.
