1. You find yourself saying "'bout 2 hours south of Columbus and 2 hours east of Natii” when you meet new people..

2 You're aware that the Murals are the largest tourist attraction in Portsmouth..

3. You know that there is a lot more going on at the Scioto Breeze Drive-In than the double feature..

4. You find yourself saying "yall" and "aintcha" a lot..

5. You know that "Scioto" is pronounced "Soda" by the locals..

6. You know what footers are..

7. You have relatives or friends in town, and the only two places you even consider taking them are Walmart and 2nd Street Dairy Bar..

8. You know Portsmouth had a pro football team that moved and became the Detroit Lions in 1934..

9. You're forced to go to Cincinnati or Columbus to shop at a mall because your strip malls blow..

10. You know the only place to go after the bars close at 2 am is the American Restaurant in New Boston..(and so do the city cops!)

11. You weekend nights were ruined when the strip was shut down.

12. You know what the strip was.

13. You can go into town and at any given time see a thug with grillz in an escalade selling crack, and a hillbilly in a cut off flannel buying horsefeed.

14. You have attended such events as Trout Derby, River Days, Fireworks on the River, and the classy Scioto County fair just to watch the white trash come out of the cracks at night.

15. You are aware that we used to have an awesome 4 story department store called Martings… then they got smart and shut down.

16. You know all the hot spots where the prostitutes hang out. 9th, Waller, and John.

17. You realize that SSU housing is spreading into the East End.. And that education and Oxies don’t mix.

18. You have attended swap days and been exposed to goats on leashes, llamas, chickens that do tricks, and anything else useless that this world can offer!

19. You know to avoid Wal-Mart the 1st-5th of every month... and are quite aware of the craziness the first of the month brings about, and why!

20. Your teachers in highschool assigned extra credit on Trout Derby Friday and Deer Season Opening because they know 3/4 of the class would be absent.

21. When you were little and had to ride the bus, deer season for you meant seeing countless of dead deer and their insides hung out in front yards along the road on the way home.

22. Your evenings after school we're consumed by hours of useless fun on mIRC... usually arguing with KimmyV.

23. Your highschool was so proud of your accomplishments that they made a huge banner stating that you were FINALLY "Academic Effective."

24. If you "went away" to college you're either at Marshall, OSU, Wright State, or OU. And you come home every other weekend.

25. For those of us who did move away, upon meeting someone new their first question is always "Where the heck are you from!?" And no one believes you when you say Ohio.

27. Just like anyone in Ohio can finish the "O-H-!!!" chant... anyone in Scioto County can finish the "Whats the Word!?!? -" chant.

This was a one and only for me ---The new Italian restaurant out in Rosemount has a special Italian treat " Italian Fajitas" Now I love a good fajita as much as the next person but Italian Fajitas ???? They could have just said we also proudly serve a dang good mexican fajita . I found it hilarous and distinctively Scioto Co. PS the Italian was very good and worthy of a repeat visit.

old bar-b-q rest. site in the Ameristay hotel lobby. Very nice menu, food was good and reasonably priced. The folks with a connection to Toro Loco I think also manage or own this one. Hence the "italian fajitas" . Calzones are huge and yummy

Bella Fonta ?? Bella LaFontaine ?? Bella something Very large menu , traditional dishes and some chef's specials also. I really thought it was similiar to Melinas (sp?) which is in Ironton and recently opened up in portsmouth. Menus are very similiar . i had lasagna , which was very good, could not quite distinguish if the pasta was homemade, warm fresh baked bread is served and the salad was very appealing. Wife's calzone was large and tasty. Give it a look.

Melini's in Ironton would not sell Italian faijitas. There is a restaurant in Ashland called Belle Fonte that sounds the same. It is where Grinders used to be.
