Portsmouth Clay Panthers 63
New Boston Glenwood Tigers 62

The Tigers fell tonight in another close contest. New Boston goes to 0-8 and 0-5. Keep working Tigers! Something has to give Friday as the Tigers go to Green in a meeting of 0-8 and 0-5 teams. Good Luck Tigers!

Thanks to ignert for this report.
Clay comes out on top in another heartbreaker for New Boston

CLAY 18 16 15 15 64
N B 14 9 17 23 63

Clay led the entire game and was up by as much as 10 or 12 a couple of times but NB kept picking their way back. Clay was up 8 points with about 2:30 left when they decided to go into a stall. Offense had been running well and they had the momentum, they passed the ball and killed some clock but made some turnovers and New Boston pulled it to three. NB fouled a few times and Clay missed some clutch freethrows and NW took their first lead at 63 - 62 at about 14 seconds when a trick inbounds play didn't work and NB stole the ball right under their own basket and laid it in. On the next inbounds Clay player (Bussler) got trapped and threw the ball up and over his back but got fouled hard. It looked like he would have to come out from the hit. He composed himself, got his breath back and hit both clutch free throws to put Clay up 64 - 63. New Boston brought the ball down and it appeared they lost it under the basket off one of their feet but the call said it went out on Clay. Hard to tell from stands. NB has ball under their own basket with 4.7 seconds. They try a lob inbounds but ball got tipped out front. NB gathers it up and misses a shot and a put back as time ran out.

As a team, I think Clay played one of their better games. I think 2:30 is too much clock for this team to kill. They gave up an 8 point lead trying to stall and took themselves out of their offense. Coached dodged a bullet in this one. A team that averages about 20 turnovers a game should not try to stall that long, IMO. New Boston is a good team and they will get their wins. Both teams played a good clean game. Take this win and keep up the good play at Western.

Eastern Eagles 71
New Boston Glenwood Tigers 65

Eagles also won the JV contest!

Great effort again tonight by the Tigers! New Boston was within 2 at 67-65 with 35 seconds to go in the game.

The Tigers are 0-10 and 0-7 in league play. Eastern stays tied with Western for first in the conference. The Eagles improve to 7-4, 6-1. The league is pretty balanced if the last place team continues to take the first, second and third place teams to the wire.

New Boston still hunts for the first win of the year. The Tigers make the short trip down to Notre Dame to take on the Titans 4-7, 3-3.

Tigers, you are giving it all you got! Keep working hard!

Good Luck!

Congrats to Western!

New Boston has five (5) games to go in the regular season.

Good Luck Tigers! This is the second time around for many of these teams and I am confident that a few of these will be victories.
