Peebles Junior High Girls Teams

Post by peeblesbuck »

The Peebles 7th and 8th grade girls teams both improved to 2-0 on the year with wins at Northwest on Monday night. The girls teams both started the season with wins over two pretty good teams at Fayetteville on Saturday.

Against Northwest the 7th grade team won by the score of 90 - 12. Yes, that's right it was 90-12. Peebles pressed the first quarter but then pulled way back after that. However, they did get a lot of steals which resulted in lay-ups on the other end. Alex Carson led the Indians with close to 30 points. Sidney Pell, Baylee Wallace, and Brooke Justice were also in double figures for Peebles. Katie McFarland and Sara Dinsmore were close to double figures as well.
Peebles only has 7 girls on the 7th grade team.

The 8th grade girls from Peebles won by the score of 44-11. Taylor Brown, Hayley Swayne, and Haley Greene led the way. This game was close early, but Peebles extended the lead gradually every quarter. Peebles only has 6 girls on their 8th grade team.

Peebles plays at West Union on Saturday.

I heard the Carson girl learned everything she knows from her 3rd-5th grade gym teacher.

For what's it's worth it was 88-12.
Peebles has a very good team, good passing, good perimeter shooting, and great quickness. Peebles played a full court press the 1st quarter, then played 1/2 court man the rest of the game. Girls basketball at Peebles looks bright for the future!

The Carson girl did transfer in last year to Peebles from Whiteoak so this is her second full year playing with Peebles' 7th grade girls. She did play some the year before with the girls from Peebles in a few tournaments before moving.

Another girl that is impressive for the 8th grade girls is Ashley Toller. She doesn't score a whole lot but just rebounds like crazy and plays very aggressively.

I agree. From what I've seen, she's pretty aggressive.

Peebles Jr High Girls will play a league game at North Adams tomorrow night I believe. What are NA 7th and 8th records? Should either game be good?

This will be the first game in a month for the 7th grade Peebles' girls team. Hopefully, they come out ready to play after the long lay-off.

The 8th grade girls had a couple of games in between but they too have had a long lay-off. North Adams has a strong 8th grade team so this game should be a good one.

The Peebles 7th grade girls team defeated North Adams 48-10 on Wednesday night and had very balanced scoring placing 3 girls in double figures (Alex Carson 16, Brooke Justice 12, Baylee Wallace 11) and Sidney Pell chipping in with 9 points. After getting down 3-0, the Lady Indians went on a 19-0 run and pulled away early.
They remained undefeated.

In the 8th grade game, Peebles led by 3 points at the half and pulled away late in the game and came away with a 10 point win. Taylor Brown had a good-shooting night and led the Indians with 20 points. Hayley Swayne was also in double figures. Alex McFarland had a solid game in the post as well.

Both team played well considering the long layoff over christmas break.

Good luck to all the girls for the remainder of this year

I was impressed with the 7th grade Lady Indians. I knew this was going to be a very good team. They are very talented and have a lot of weapons. Hard to stop a Junior high team with that much fire power. Most of the time at the Junior High level you might have to worry about 1 or 2 good players to have to stop. The Peebles team you have 5 or 6 girls that are real good. I thought NA hung in there tough and fought hard the entire game which is a good trait to have.

I was disappointed in the 8th grade game because I thought NA could have pulled that one out. They just got off to a slow start and other than Emily Fite, the rest of the team really struggled on the offensive end. Congrats to the Lady Indians on a good win.

Coach Newman and Coach Williams do a fine job with the two teams at NA. They will get them turned around!

7th grade team will win by 70+ if they want.

The Chilly girls....I'm not sure they've played organized basketball before this season.

That's what I've heard also about the Chillicothe girls. It's hard to believe a school of that size would not be more competitive. How is the 8th grade team from Chillicothe?
