Re: Peebles Junior High Girls Teams
Thanks for the score. I was wanting to find out how it turned out. OUCH !!!! 87-3 could not have been good for either side, that's for sure. How could a school the size of Chillicothe not be any better than that?
How did the 8th grade girls do?

I heard Peebles 8th grade won by about 30 points, but don't know the exact score.

Re: Peebles Junior High Girls Teams
The entire team played well defensively. The girls share the ball well and are extemely fun to watch. S Dinsmore, K McFarland and Brooke Justice played well offensively also. B Wallace, S Pell, H Cade played well inside.
Each game a different player has stepped up on offense.

It's a shame that these girls can't play some good competition. It kind of hurts you to only get to play teams that you can beat by this much, course I think they could have a night where 2 or 3 of them have bad nights and they'll still win.

Re: Peebles Junior High Girls Teams
As for how Chillicothe can not be any better than that, I can answer that question. Very simple. it is a complete lack of organization at the grade school level. Someone stated that it looked like it was their first year of playing organized basketball, and that is actually pretty close. Of the 12 kids on the team, only 5 had any basketball experience prior to this year. The reason...... no one advertises the league or passes out info at the school itself. On the first night of basketball camp, Chilli had less than 10 kids show up at each grade level. And most of them only found out by word of mouth from friends.
I think someone a little higher up needs to show some interest in what's going on at the lower levels. This years 4th, 5th, and 6th graders from Chillicothe's girls teams do not even have a league to play in this season and to my knowledge, they have not gotten to play any games. But with a city the size of Chilli, why do they need to get into someone else's league?? Chillicothe should have its own league with city kids, so 40 + show up for 7th grade tryouts......not 12.

Peebles 7th/8th girls jr high host Manchester at 10:00 am 1/17/09.
Re: Peebles Junior High Girls Teams
Besides Jackson another team that would at least compete with Peebles is Vinton County.
I have a couple of questions with no ill intent...How much do the 7th grade Peebles girls press? How many girls are on the 7th grade team?
Thanks

Ironman
The Peebles girls don't get to press much at all especially with the scores that they've had. As a matter of fact the 7th grade girls coach from West Union came up to the Peebles coach after the game was over and actually thanked him for NOT pressing ANY at all during the course of the 65-2 win. The first time they played it was something like 80-8.
In no game they've played, other than their opener with Fayetteville, have they pressed for more than a quarter.
There are only 7 girls on the 7th grade team this year and only 6 on the 8th grade team so numbers are a little low for those two age groups but the talent is definitely not low.
Out of the 7 girls on the roster on the 7th grade team, 6 of them are all very solid and four of have played AAU basketball. Out of those four girls who have played AAU two of them have already had three AAU seasons under their belts and another has played for two years of AAU. The two girls who have played three AAU seasons have gone to the Division I Nationals each year and their teams fared well. One girl on this roster has not played much before this year but has continually got better because of all the playing time she has received this year.

Re: Peebles Junior High Girls Teams
WOW....can't believe there is only 7. That's OK as 7 is enough for an age group but man anyone on the team would get a lot of playing time with the constant blowouts....not too mention being a part of an undefeated team.

And to put a big cherry on top of it, Peebles has a 6th grade girl that that plays the point guard position better than anyone i've seen in a while.

Re: Peebles Junior High Girls Teams
What were the scores of the junior high girls games in their wins over Manchester on Saturday? I heard something like 65-18 for the 7th grade and about a 30 point win for the 8th grade but I didn't hear a final.
I do know that in the 7th grade game Baylee Wallace led the way with 18 points in about 2 quarters of action and Alex Carson, Sidney Pell, and Sarah Dinsmore were all in double figures. Brooke Justice, Katie McFarland, and Hannah Cade all contributed heavily in the win as well.
In the 8th grade game I heard the coaches really bragging about the play of Alex McFarland as she had 17 points and 14 rebounds. That is three games in a row for her in double figures in rebounds as she is playing very aggressive now. Ashley Toller was also in double figures in rebounds. Didn't hear any other scoring details but I'm sure Taylor Brown and Hayley Greene had solid efforts.
A second match-up with Fayetteville is looming this week on Wednesday if I'm not mistaken. That is the only team to come within 35 points of Peebles 7th grade this year and the 8th grade game was also a close one with the Lady Indians coming out on top there too.
Keep up the great effort !!!!

Peebles 7th and 8th grade girls don't play Fayetteville until next Monday 1/26. This Wednesday is a make up game with Eastern Brown and then on Saturday they play Leesburg Fairfield. All three games are at home and the Saturday game starts at 10:00 a.m. and the weeknight games begin at 5:30.

Re: Peebles Junior High Girls Teams
Peebles 7th grade girls remained undefeated with a 49 - 5 win over Eastern Brown on Wednesday evening. Alex Carson led the way for the Lady Indians with around 20 points. Most of them came on lay-ups off of her defense. She plays tremendous on the ball defense and comes up with a lot of picks and turns them into easy baskets. Also, Sara Dinsmore, Sidney Pell, and Baylee Wallace all had around 8 points each. Brooke Justice, Katie McFarland, and Hannah Cade all contributed in the win with some solid defense and a couple of baskets.
Great job girls and one more game to go until the re-match with Fayetteville next Monday. The 7th grade is now 9-0 on the year.
In the 8th grade game, the Peebles' girls came away with a 43-37 win. Hayley Greene and Alex McFarland both had solid games for the Lady Indians. They were both around 16 points each with Greene getting most of hers in transition on lay-ups and McFarland setting up shop in the post and scoring. Greene hit a big three right at the buzzer to end the first half. McFarland also hit several FT's after getting fouled in the post.
Hayleigh Swayne had a solid game defensively and on the boards and ran the point some for the Indians. Taylor Brown had several assists to Greene and McFarland. Ashley and Erica Toller also played well and each had a lot of minutes.
It's great to see some other girls stepping up for the 8th graders and they will be hard to beat come SHL tournament time. They are now 8-1 on the season I believe.

Re: Peebles Junior High Girls Teams
Peebles Jr High Girls' teams seem to be having a great year. It will be fun to watch these girls when they combine in high school. This 8th grade group combined with the 7th and 6th grade class! A lot of talent in all three grades. Should be fun to watch!
