Waverly has had a great season. But, honestly, I'm just not sold on them yet. I don't know why, but I'm not a firm believer yet. But still, congrats.
Re: 9/18/11 State poll
I know it is the good ole Apples to Apples comparison, but this is why I'm not yet sold. Waverly has played South Webster, Clay, and Southeastern. All teams that Eastern has played. The scores of the games against SE and Clay were a lot closer than they were for Eastern. Waverly did beat SW in 3, unlike Eastern beat them in 5, but Eastern also played them in the first game of the season and on the road. This is why I'm not sold yet. But I do believe they are good. And, Eastern handled them pretty well in Previews.

Didn't Waverly win at SW in 3?
I watched Wavery beat Jackson in a scrimmage all 6 or 7 games....typical score about 25-15. They were consistent and solid all around....much like Eastern I thought. The comparative scoring is a tough way to go, but not much else to go by.

Whoa.whoa.....Take it easy rng,You made your own statement regarding where the teams were at in the early parts of the season.
SW was working out the kinks, eastern im sure was also working on trying to gel and i know waverly during the previews was missing some key players do to prior commitments. So to base your opinion on where waverly is ranked by you compairing what the teams did at the very beginning of the season is really a stretch and in my opinion weak.
All three of teams are very good and all can and will be beat. I know waverly has been working hard to try to bring the program up to snuff with the elite teams of the s.o.c and to be honest they have done pretty darn good at it and to discredit their hard work and commitment is simply just like the state poll voters....its just an opinion.. and im sure waverly will not hang their hat on the state poll and your opinion.
Good luck Waverly .and remember ,Coming together was the beginning,Keeping together is progress and Working together is SUCCESS!

Well said bron99! Don't know why it's necessary to down grade Waverlys success. It's nice to see another Southern Ohio team doing well.
Keep it going Tigers! Make them believers!

there is one heck of a difference between good DII sports and DIII when it comes tournament time from top to bottom. Who has Waverly played to make them tournament ready in the DII world? If they have Adena on the schedule that would be a start, there are no good DII caliber schools in Scioto or Pike County to challenge them.
2011 Power Ratings
Thanks to our poster-friend Crashnburn from TCC for pointing me toward an interesting new addition to the "coach's website" (http://www.ohsvca.net) under "What's New" and then "Power Rankings". One of the state's grand volleyball fans, has devised a ranking system and applied it to the high school teams in the state. This may give the few SEOP volleyball nuts something to ponder, cuss and discuss.
In the line of this thread, it has Waverly ranked 75th in the State, 23rd in Div. 2 and 3rd in Division 14, behind Adena and Eastern.
Enjoy!

Don't take me wrong, I'm not saying Waverly isn't good. I know for a fact they are good and will have a successful tournament run. But, having them ranked 11th is a stretch for me right now. Should they be ranked? Absolutely. I agree.

I totally agree with you PP but waverly is barely a Div 2 school by only 20 girls according to OHSAA standards in volleyball, however the rules are the rules and waverly has to play who they can to prepare to make a run in the post season.
Without a doubt Eastern and South Webster are the best teams for Waverly to play that are close to get them ready.
I hope Waverly does well and has a great rest of the season and again im really looking forward to seing how the program will progress in the next few years

Re: 9/18/11 State poll
The only thing that matters is HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME!!....not where you are ranked or who you beat or who you did not beat or what anyone else thinks about you! I don't see anything on here about anyone trying to downgrade the hard work that the Tigers (or any other team) have put in or the efforts they are giving! No one doubts the Tigers have been working hard all summer and into the fall, as have many other teams! Dig deep TIGERS and see what you are made of!! GO TIGERS!!! They play the games for a reason!
