D-I Talent in Southern Ohio...
08 Trevor Walls Waverly
09 Nate Cadogan Portsmouth
09 John Prior Portsmouth
In the last couple years southern ohio has seen a few kids go D-1... Is there any kids you see coming up that has a chance to play major college football?

Trevor Walls(New Mexico State)-Redshirt as a freshman, word is he will get quality time next year, if not be starting.
Where have Nate and John committed to? If I remember right didn't John commit to Florida State?
As for future Division 1 players in southern ohio, Derek Roback from Waverly already has a offer to Ohio University.

^^
They have both already committed? I know Nate's brother is at Penn State but didn't know he was headed there.

Chris Givens of Chillicothe is doing very well as a WR at Miami. They had a down year, but he did good.
It's not D-1 , but Clay Beeler(also from CHS)is tearing it up at NCAA DII West Liberty State. He was named to the All Region 1st team, as an ILB,which is absolutely incredible for a So. There are only 4 regions in the entire United States, so that puts him in say, the top 12 or so LB's in the NAtion! He is now qualified to earn All-American status. He will definitely be pre-season AA.They have just missed the D2 playoffs the last 2 years. Look for them to get there before he's done.
A lot of people don't realize how good DII is.

Re: D-I Talent in Southern Ohio...
Ironton's Marcus Williams is D1 at Ohio State along with K.C. Christian and Andy Colegrove is D1 at Youngstown State. We also have John Paul Pemberton at DII Tiffin and some others at smaller schools doing very well. Coming to mind is Bruce Roach at Otterbein, Tyler McDaniels (I'm not sure which one, but, Ohio Wesleyan is hitting me in the head) and Wes Runyon there as well. Feel free to correct me and add to this list Irontonians.
I can only speak to Andy, though I think all or most of you know of Marcus' many accomplishments. Andy made the travel squad this past season and saw playing time on special teams (extra point, field goal and kickoff return), as well as some backup at center and tight end. He is on task for being All Academic for the league again too.
We are proud of all of these kids and wish them the best, along with the other SEO student athletes!

Are you saying that Vinton County has six D1 prospects in a three year span?

In this area, I think it is hard for most of us to realize how good you have to be just to be on a D1 team. I think the most recent overall success of a player from this area going D1 is Brad Young from Wellston at Ohio University.

Re: D-I Talent in Southern Ohio...
It is really hard to evan be noticed by D-1 schools (except OJIO U.) let alone recruted. Lets face it with a few exceptions we live in a black hole compared to the rest of the state when it comes to D-1 schools recruting.
We get a lot of kids going to lower division schools to play football and get an education, so I will take that as a blessing for SE Ohio.

Having D-I talent running around is nice, but I think coaches would rather have kids who leave their programs loving the game of football and cherish the lessons that they learned playing it.

You already know that these kids who are freshman now are going to be D-1 athletes? Wow, maybe you should go ahead and call Pete Carroll, so he can LAUGH AT YOU!!!!
