Re: New foorball coach at South Point?
I heard the time to submitt an application will be over soon. This will be good for the kids to get a new Coach and start working on next years team.

Are you talking about the Trplett that Coached Portsmouth West? If that is the case SP better jump on him soon someone else will go after him. What I have heard of him he knows how to re-build programs quickly.
I would say good luck SP finding someone better than him!!

I heard there are several applicants with high school experience. I agree with game day. Triplett is an excellent coach and loves to re-build programs. South Point would be lucky to have him. Heard he is wanted at several other schools as well. If the Point gets him, watch out in a year or two.

Didn't Triplett beat every OVC team he played every year at West? If he is headed to SP the other OVC teams could be in trouble in a couple years. I hear there are a lot of athletes in the school, they just didn't play? Maybe times are changin?

The first and main thing that a new coach has to do at South Point is to keep their athletes in South Point, let them know that they can win and can be noticed in South Point, they don't have to go to Ironton or anywhere else to get noticed by colleges.

2Trap, there is the white elephant. Parents and kids believe that going to Ironton will somehow get you "Noticed" by the big schools. FYI, the big schools find talent no matter where it is at when concerning HS in southern Ohio. Name a kid in Lawrence or Scioto county who was overlooked due to not playing at a certain highschool. Recruiting is very different from the way it was 15-20 years ago...camps at the home school is where it is at....of course the big name athletes get the pub regardless of whether they go to a given camp. In other words, I doubt any D1 school is watching out for scores from Ironton or anybody else, if a kid has it they are on the radar.

Triplet is taking the job. It will be announced next week. Great hire.

I guess you need to ask him this question.
I don't like to answer for him but here I go:
1. Get involved with the kids at school and get them back out for football
2. Get the kids in the weight room. What I have seen from the kids at SP thay have not been in the weight room.
3. SP will found out the he is players coach and he is in it for the kids!!!
4. Bring back pride and hard work during practice during the season and the off season
5. Encourage kids to get involved in other sports besides football
6. Meet with the Parents and talk about the "TEAMS" and Coaches expectations.
7. Bring some solid Coaches with him that know what is like to build a program from the bottom up.
8. Get the kids playing together as a team.
9. Last and most important get the lower level kids out playing football together.

Re: New foorball coach at South Point?
I hear interviews begin tomorrow. Maybe the new coach will be known for certain this week, then all the speculating will be finished. If it is Triplett, best of luck, couldn't happen to a nicer guy and great motivator. And from what I am hearing, that is exactly what SP needs, MOTIVATION. In the locker room and hallways at school.
As fara as "getting noticed by colleges"., I thought that was up to your athletic directer, coaches and even some responsinility falls on the parents, to promote their kid. Send films to schools of interest and any athletic director worth anything at all should provide all the help and info you could need.

Coach T will be good for South Point. Players will love him that's for sure.
