Barrick is best coach is SOC but not in southern Ohio- I would say he is a close second to Van Meter at McClain. Anyway this will be a telling game for the SOC- I have Valley76- Burg 59

Valley and Oak Hill are two best teams in the league- after that it is a toss up with Minford, Burg, Waverly, and NorthWest.

Norm Persin does coach in the SOC and in Southern Ohio. Barrick is good but I still believe Norm is the best coach in this part of the state.

I guess we're splitting hairs on this "best coach" thing... Anyways, I assume that the game is off tonight?

BTW, not a fan of Van Meter. I played for him in an All-Star game, and I wasn't that impressed. :122249

I just got word that this game was cancelled. Anyone official with the same information?

Personally, I am still waiting to see if Coach Persin can win in the SOC without transfers before I make my call.

I can't imagine that there will be any games in this area tonight.

Seriously, I like to see if a coach can put together a team and win when the talent is down. I like to see a team improve from the beginning to the end of the season. I like to see a coach that can make adjustments in coaching styles to fit his talent. I like to see a coach that can win when they are not suppose to. Those are the way that I judge a coach--those things and the improvement in the character of the kids that go through the program. There are more important things than wins and losses. I actually appreciate the quality of the person, not just the coaching ability.

But, yes, that was a bit low. My apologies.

Yes, I just got an email about it being rescheduled for Saturday also. Darn but I had plans. We will have to see if I can make that one.

I agree with you 100%. Burg was supposed to win over the past few years and with 2 DI players going through, they did. If they would manage to win the SOC this year, it would be something they were not expected to do (although I believe there could be another DI player in the making, but time will tell). I think Barrick is doing well adjusting to the young players so far and by the end of the year, the results will speak for themselves.

As much as I don't like the weather related rescheduled games, I think they are in Burg's favor. The more practice time the kids have with Coach Barrick, the better prepared they will be as the season progresses.

Don't apologize... I like when people speak their true feelings. And I agree with most of what you had to say. Everyone needs to stop being so "PC"!

Hasn't Barrick had his way with Persin in their teams head to head matchups over the yrs? I know some of those games the burg was the favorite but in a couple of those games I think the peake would have been considered big favorites and the burg knocked them off.

I'd have to say Valley will prevail in this one too. I think the full court pressure may be more than the Pirates can handle. I hope I'm wrong though. Wheelersburg needs to slow down the Indians and make it a half court game to hope to win this game.

End of 1st quarter

Wheelersburg 9
Valley 6

The Pirates are doing just what they need to do to win this game. They are slowing it down and making it a half court game.

Halftime

Wheelersburg 28
Valley 21

Wheelersburg is playing some really good ball. Valley has did a good job of holding down Stegman, but Craigmiles and Whitley have really stepped up their game in the first half as have the other Pirates on the floor.
