Got this quote from the other thread:
Shep07 wrote:Downs record at VC:
03- 6-4
04- 8-2 regular season, lost in round 1 of playoffs
05- 3-7

at FH
06- 9-1 regular season, lost in round 1 of playoffs

Sounds like this Downs guy has had plenty of success. Also, I read he used to work with Jackson High School principal Joe Hemsley. Looks like a good fit.

You can't post anything even remotely negative about South Gallia on here. Their administrators, namely AD are on here constantly. Everything you post about them gets reported to a moderator.

HowardCosell,

I would guess that your thread was deleted because there are already two other threads discussing the Jackson coaching situation.

I never thought of Jeff Downs would be a good fit , Why he was run out of Vinton County I have no idea.

I am going to throw some opinions out there just to have some fun. I personally know 2 coaches on this list and there are 4 that I don't know of, so here goes in the order they were listed . . .
Jeff Downs - contrary to what "boiler" throws out there, he was not ran out of Vinton County. He resigned to spend time with his family. Guess what, he ended up at Federal Hocking a few months later. Where are we hearing that from????
Darin Davis - haven't heard of him
Greg Phillips - only reason to leave Oak Hill for Jackson would be for a pay raise.
Doug Wooton - too young, more of the same.
Jeff Conroy - turned the job down before, I say, no interest at all
Scott Bartholomew - loaded team at Logan Elm, no interest
Larry Blackstone - been there once won't to it again
Shawn Buescher - kinda interesting, good team coming back at West Jeff. Don't think he wants to rebuild Jackson
Heath Hinton - struggling a lot at Marion Harding. Got his lunch handed to him by Jackson twice. Jackson has no interest
Pete Woods - has not had a winning season at Philo. Was very well liked in Jackson. Interest on both sides.
John Knight - have no idea who this is
Owens - have no idea who this is
Marquez - see above
Mark Fenik - has an administrators job now I believe. I say he won't apply. Great player at Jackson.
Justy Burleson - been told he has applied for a lot of jobs in the area. I say he applies, not much interest from Jackson.
Tim Dailey - no from both sides
That's my long winded run down. Fire away . . .

Brad Burchfield- current head coach at Columbus Bishop Hartley(1st year took his team to the playoffs- lost to Martins Ferry. Previous stint at DV Centerburg- 3 seasons ago he took his team to the semifinals I think....beat the Burg on their homefield that season. District coach of the year that season. That guy would be a nice candidate for the job. He also has been an assistant at Canal Winchester and Marietta.

My #1 choice would be Shawn Buescher.....he's young, but not too young, his family resides in Jackson and he is very innovative.

My #2 choice would be Jeff Conroy....a former Jackson great and his record speaks for itself.....my guess would be if he wants it it's his....but have no clue if he has the "burn"

Blackstone??? lol.....3 board members would have nothing to do with that

Mark Fenik?....not happening

John Knight is a defensive coach at Waverly....doubt he is interested

Downs having pull with Hemsley could be a trigger....but I don't think would out due Conroy or Buescher...but if those 2 are a no want...he looks like a good choice.

I don't know that these Darrin Davis posts are for real. He coached baseball at Oak Hill. The father of former player Josh Davis. To my knowledge he has never coached football or would want to. He knows alot about sports but don't know that he would coach football.

I don't know though, stranger things have happened.

My bet is that there will not be alot of applicants with a lot of experience. I would say the ones that are experienced probably have been ran out of there current situation. My bet is that they will get a young person with alot of energy. Again, I would bet anything they are not going to create a teaching job for this person. Therefore, I think it will limit the pool a great deal.
