I know the politically correct answer is the next one but I want everyone's true opinion. What game are you looking foreward to the most this year?
Re: Coal Grove 2012 Schedule
im glad to see cg vs burg renewed. Im also anxious to see bishop ready again. Just glad they finally upped the ante with their non-conference schedule..

Re: Coal Grove 2012 Schedule
The only way we made the non-conf schedule better is by getting Pike County Central in place of Trimble.
I mean look at last year, was Wheelersburg better than Athens, I would have to say no, but from what I have seen and heard PCC is a huge,,,,,wait I mean a HUGE upgrade from Trimble.

So much for that HUGE upgrade, so if Pike County Central is out then who do we get to take their place.

Has everyone seen the redone press box. When did we start using Symmes Valley's colors?

Re: Coal Grove 2012 Schedule
if you all seen the 7 on 7 tournaments and games cg played this yr, you would know hands down who the better qb is.bare outplayed rigsby and led cg to a second place finish in the bowling green tournament.rigsby couldn't even win a jr high title in 8th grade. any kid can look good at a camp throwing long and looking good , but we all know it comes down to what you do when the friday night lights come on and your in a real game. i seen chris smith be ranked number 1 qb at all these camps when he was at sp, and 2nd randed qb in ohio, but couldn't play ball at marshall. you have to perform on the field to prove yourself in the end.

Re: Coal Grove 2012 Schedule
I personally wasn't debating that right now Bare is better than Rigsby. My thoughts were that maybe Bare would better serve the team as running back seeing that the backs we have are still on the unexpierenced side. Also, don't judge talent on what you see at 7 on 7 tournaments, we looked good last year and there were times our passing game didn't live up to the hype during the season.rico suave wrote:if you all seen the 7 on 7 tournaments and games cg played this yr, you would know hands down who the better qb is.bare outplayed rigsby and led cg to a second place finish in the bowling green tournament.rigsby couldn't even win a jr high title in 8th grade. any kid can look good at a camp throwing long and looking good , but we all know it comes down to what you do when the friday night lights come on and your in a real game. i seen chris smith be ranked number 1 qb at all these camps when he was at sp, and 2nd randed qb in ohio, but couldn't play ball at marshall. you have to perform on the field to prove yourself in the end.
Re: Coal Grove 2012 Schedule
Okay enough about the glory boys at RB/QB. How does the line look? They have been pretty bad for the past 5 or so years and graced with some extremely talented backs. Maybe this season we will have the best of both.

Re: Coal Grove 2012 Schedule
I truly hope so. The problem with the line hasn't been run blocking, our boys have run blocking taught to them from the time they are born, it is the pass blocking that has been the issue over the past few years. This is still new territory for the Grove and it seems that every game there is at least one maybe two blown blocks because our line doesn't know how to read a defense when it comes to passing plays. Hope this gets fixed this year and we do have an all around balanced offense.CG_ALUMNI wrote:Okay enough about the glory boys at RB/QB. How does the line look? With the schedule the way it is right now we will need balance in order to have a shot at the playoffs, 9-0 (maybe 8-1, depends on how the chips fall) will get us in but our boys are going to have to have their A+++ game every week.
Re: Coal Grove 2012 Schedule
That is true. The line has been taught to run block from day one. I can't believe Jay hasn't found us a game 10... This is gonna kill us in the long run, I think. Hopefully we pull a team outta nowhere like they did in 2004-2005 and someone wants to play midway through the season.

Re: Coal Grove 2012 Schedule
bare at qb. that's easy. gunther is the man at rb. he is one of the greats. bare and gunther are similar types, and given the way the ovc looks this year gunther could handle lots of carries. have no clue why rico is bringing in middle school stats.
Re: Coal Grove 2012 Schedule
I personally would like to see another game on the schedule. But as far as playoffs, Coal Grove made it in '09 with 9 wins, in '10 with 8 wins, and just missed last year with 7 wins. So, depending on how good this team is, a 9-game schedule isn't necessarily a playoff death sentence. Unless I'm completely out of the loop, I don't see why Coal Grove can't once again go undefeated in OVC play. It does my heart good to see the Burg back on the schedule. This was a classic rivalry for years and with fuel costs, the close proximity, and tradition of the two, there's no reason this game shouldn't have been played sooner.
Re: Coal Grove 2012 Schedule
I was very impressed with CG last night at the scrimmage. The QB has a good arm and is very quick. He's also a very good corner. Grove has a nice bruiser they used up the middle and a very quick back that can get outside. They looked pretty good for the first scrimmage of the year. The only questionmark I saw was the offensive line (at times) was a little sloppy but they have good size and the defense was vulnerable to slant passes and runs around the end. But overall I was impressed. Good luck this season!
