Jumper
just my simple observation - no more and no less. You need both a good outside and inside game. You will not make it against good teams being unbalanced in either.

I saw in the paper Poe had 22 points, doesn't he play inside. What I heard was Green got the lead and then quit going inside and started launching the 3's, and during the 5 minute ND comeback did not run any time off the clock.

Jumper,

I've seen enough games to know not to blame the coach everytime a team loses or blows a game. You are right, sometimes players without game experience, and even seniors, can get caught up in the moment and forget it is the clock, and not the other team that is the opponent. Sounds like that happened.

I was at the game too, and hated to see the Cats take it on the nose in the 4th. Around NCAA tourney time it's often debated as whether or not there is such a thing as a "good" or "valuable" loss. What do folks think about this? Could this be a loss that the Cats can build on? Coaches can prepare for all types of situations in practice, but living them and then reacting to them on a Friday night is tough. Hopefully they store this one away and are better prepared as the season moves forward. Stay hungry Cats!

The last time Green lost to ND Shawn Visor transfered from PHS to ND and Green lost in a close game down there.I'm guessing that was around 1996.

Amazing, isn't it? I hope the Cat's can put it together to at least be competitive against Minford. This looks to be a long year. We're young, but we need to grow up quick. I think they will.

I can. In '88 they started 3 Freshmen under Mike Hughes and won 14 games. Hope this answers your question.

The 01-02 Season we had (1) returning starter from the previous year… Both the Ironton and Portsmouth papers picked us to finish dead last in the SOC and maybe a 500 record… We started off winning 5 in a row and finishing the regular season 15-5, overall 18-6, SOC1 Champions, Sectional Champions, and District Runner up… I can’t bash Kitchen yet because I’ve Hoosiers and I understand what it takes to establish your program… But to lose to ND and have a 15 point lead in the 4th quarter (Like my prediction said) concerns me…

don't panic just because it was ND , This ND bunch is a large improvement over some previous years. Hopkins brings experience, the kids have some talent and appear very coachable. ND will beat a few teams this year that have not lost to us in a while. MD

I agree, MD. Rick has done a tremendous job up there. Hopefully the Cat's come out of this with a better understanding of what it takes to succeed.

I have been following this post and all I am reading is about how excuses are being made on why Green got beat by Notre Dame. Just admit it, Green got beat on that night, that is part of the process and why the games are played on the court, not on paper, to get the final result. The seniors from Notre Dame have had to go through three seasons of getting beat and now it is there senior year and they are winning some ballgames. People seem to be suprised that the kids from Notre Dame are winning some ballgames, NOT a suprise to me. It just seems that every team that plays Notre Dame this year needs to not look at it like it is going to be an easy win and look past the Titans. Good luck Titans and I will continue to follow your progress in the PDT on the internet.
